Chiefs defense- is there an elixir?

Dissenting opinion here. The Chiefs defense isn’t bad. A bad defense doesn’t help a team have the second highest point differential in the league. Reid is a top tier coach and for the first time in his career has a Ferrari at QB when he usually gets by with a Camry.

Defense has inflated stats because teams are constantly behind the Chiefs and getting garbage time stats. Chiefs are the best chance of someone not named New England representing the AFC in the Super Bowl.

Surprised it took this long for someone to say this, this is plain as day. As long as they can get a few 3 and outs and give their offense a chance to get the ball back and increase their lead, teams will continue to pile on yards. Not a big issue

I'm a Vols fan and Berry has been my favorite player for a long time...but it is a massive assumption to think he will return to all pro or even pro bowl form.  At some point, injuries and age take a toll.

Dont ever doubt Eric Berry

They could have traded for someone like Jenkins  but I know the cap is tight.

CB isn’t a strength, but we have solid play there.

S and ILB are the problem areas at this point.

The defense is lights out when teams get behind the sticks.  Other than that, they play the bend game hoping the offense puts itself in a tough situation.

See: Arizona game.

Even with David Johnson doing everything and anything, they still only got 14 points.

Here’s an interesting stat:

The Chiefs have 36 sacks in 11 games.

The 2003 Vermeil team that went 13-3 had 36 sacks in 16 games.

One key difference is that Greg Robinson’s defense seemed to get by on a wing and a prayer, at least Sutton’s players can fall back on something.

when you play KC, the offensive line has to hold up or they can tee off on any QB.

Dee Ford and Justin Houston on the edges, Chris Jones spearheading the middle. If they can just get the backend shored up.

give it to Chris Jones too, he's playing like a beast this year and had a huge game against the Rams.

They don't have the corners to play man coverage and attack the LOS. Their linebackers are also atrocious (not counting their rush LB's). It seems like to me, they're playing a bend, don't break style to prevent big plays, but teams can just chunk them up and down. They should just come after teams and be more aggressive. If they give up massive big plays, oh well. But don't let teams kill you in the short and intermediate game. Run blitz.
