patriotsheatyan
An extremely talented Steelers team missed the playoffs. Ben is old, Tomlin is bothering some, the locker room is dysfunctional, and they might lose the best receiver in the league. Should the Steelers consider making a big move for a QB? How long is Tomlin’s leash at this point?
RaidersAreOne
Big decline imo.
TecmoSuperJoe
The Steelers spent a 3rd round pick on Mason Rudolph, and if Tomlin is still around after Ben retires, they'll probably give him the chance to start. Roethlisberger is entering the final year of his contract, so the upcoming season will be very interesting. He turns 37 in March. All of the recent drama that has happened over the last few months with the Steelers isn't helping matters.
VigilantZombie
Conventional logic says we're in for a big downfall. But offensively we have a lot of young talent and if Mason Rudolph does work then our offense is pretty much good to go. What it's going to take to sustain the success we've seen in the past is improving the defense and if we can do that in theory it will also be relatively Young. We might see a couple of Seasons with more mist play Austin if that is the case there's probably going to be a coaching change but in terms of the roster I feel very strongly that they have a bright future
VigilantZombie
I would also like to add that this conversation comes up every year. Any more often and not it seems like it guess brought up by a Patriots fan. Now I'm not dissing all Patriots fans or even the one that started this thread and congratulations to the Patriots for their success but really are still that envious of the Steelers that you want to see them completely plummet? Because every year we have this conversation and every year the people that say that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to plummet end up being wrong
August4th
can see the ben/tomlim era lasting 2 more yrs. I think they have one more good yr left followed by a down yr in 2020. Tomlin leaves to take a break(he's young, but coaching 13 yrs has to take a toll..especially at one place) and Ben retires or maybe hangs on for one more yr. J-ALL-DAY
Next year to me will be their last hurrah. I expect them to bounce back and have a good season and make their last real run at a SB together before some decline, and ultimately one or both of them being done in Pittsburgh. rfournier103
The Steelers biggest enemy is themselves. They constantly invest in players that are more trash-mouth than smash-mouth. How far could they have gone if they had players with 75% of the talent of Bell and Brown playing and giving 100% effort? sometimes you can get away with one player like that... but several? This can’t possibly be the culture the Steelers are trying to foster, and it most definitely costs them on the field.
MSURacerDT55
Expectations: Drama
NJerseypaint
Even if they lose AB and Bell, they still have Big Ben, JuJu and James Connor. That's a better offense than most of the league. Plus they are playing the AFCE this year, so it's not the toughest schedule to overcome.
SBLIII
Idk but I have this weird feeling the Steelers will actually bounce back in 2019 to at least 11 wins, maybe more.
vikingsrule
Tomlin gets fired after next year after another playoff miss. I think they keep Ben around, similar deal to what Brees received.
49erurtaza
Steelers play terrible midway through the season they bench Ben.
theJ
My AFC North prediction for 2019: Browns under-perform expectations. Mayfield can't recapture the 2018 magic, injuries take their toll, etc. Win 6 games. Ravens struggle to put together a good offense again. Lamar Jackson can't adapt now that teams have tape on him. Win 7 games on the back of their defense. Bengals come out of the gate strong, falter down the stretch and can't beat the big boys. Win 7 games. Steelers come out looking worse than ever in their first couple of games while everyone sleeps on them. Then suddenly we look up in December to discover they're on their way to 12 wins. In other words, new year, same results. (i hope not)
