N4L
The 16 game per player limit is such a bad idea. What other sport limits the amount of games a player can play? Either make it the full 18 games, or keep it at 16. Don't do this half *** BS in the name of 'player saftey' Backup QBs everywhere, rejoice! "Here in week 19 we have Deshone Kizer vs Chase Daniels to determine the NFCN winner and #2 seed in the playoffs" while a perfectly healthy Aaron Rodgers sits on the sideline. yeah... that's what the people want Edited July 12, 2019 by N4L
Elky
The league's obsession with an 18 game season is beyond ridiculous at this point. What we have now is perfectly fine. Edited July 12, 2019 by Elky
Nbanflguy
There is not one thing the NFL could do to make me support an 18 game season.... and this idea is absolutely terrible.. like who ever came up with it should be fired from whatever job they have

Packerraymond
Does Roger Goodell provide any counsel at all to the owners? Or is he paid 32m just to nod yes? This has to be the worst idea the NFL has ever come up with and by a large margin. When this idea was floated around I laughed it off, makes you wonder how 31 owners successful enough to own an NFL franchise had any success in the world when they got together and legitimately decided this proposal was worth making to their players union. I'd never root for a lockout but if it meant saving us fans from this, have at it boys.
FinSting
For 16 games that guy is He Hate Me. For the final 2 games he's in the lineup as Rod Smart.

Raves
So are they going to expand the rosters to 106 players for the 2 weeks that the non-starter & rotation guys have to play? Current 53 man rosters have everyone outside of back-up QBs typically seeing the field in some capacity each game outside of injury.
Awsi Dooger
Check the demographic and age bracket of these owners. They see their peers in other endeavors increasingly pushing greed to the limit and beyond. No repercussions. In fact, approval and encouragement to push further. It is a golden era for that demographic. They know they have to seize now before the Silent Generation dies out, younger generations have more of a voice, and public opinion shifts to the point that public scrutiny and backlash will be exponentially higher on matters like this. The idea is ridiculous but from their standpoint I understand the attempt. Lies and misrepresentation have much more of a chance to succeed right now than in 5 or 10 years.
Rockice_8
18 games, 1 less preseason game, and an extra bye week to break up the season makes the most sense. Either do that or keep it as it is now. Limiting the players to 16 games is so dumb. Whoever thought of that should be fired immediately.
MacReady
I don't think it's all that bad an idea. Go to a single preseason game. Designate like 43 players out for the first two weeks of the season. Have the final cut down to 53 players after the second game. That way fans won't be upset if they buy tickets and have a star player sitting out while healthy. Teams won't be able to take advantage of injuries to meet the required two game shortage. Makes fringe roster players more valuable and gives them a chance to show what they're capable of. Gives NFL revenue of two more meaningful games. 0-2 is no longer a bad spot to be in while it could give bad teams a chance at finishing strong. Improves parity. Removes two/three meaningless games. It's essentially making the final two preseason games count for something. Don't know why fans are so opposed to more football.
MacReady
Why is it dumb to limit players to 16 games? I think people who say it's dumb are dumb. You're talking about the NFL, not flag football. The built up damage on a body for 16 weeks is enough to ruin players. 18 games plus 4 playoff games for some teams is not sustainable.
