They are 2 different things. 1 (the extendo-plane wave thing) is so completely unlike anything else in the sport that they may as well have a wine tasting contest to determine the extra point. 2 Jesse James has the ball in his hands, 2 feet down and then he spikes the ball on the ground. Golladay catches the ball in his hands with 2 feet down and then the ball spins around within his control and never hits the ground. There is no logic way that the play that redefined the rule should be a catch and that should not. Rule 1 is just weird and soft. Rule 2 is pathetic and called inconsistently by deeply flawed people.
