I have so much hate for him since that game where Brooks had him dead to rights and he got sacked hard and said that he felt it should be a penalty because he got tackled hard. Screw him. He should really be thanking Brooks for elevating him from the shortest QB in the NFL to somewhere in the middle of the pack.

I mean the Ravens did but the conditions were terrible and we couldn't really get the pass game going, likewise for them. But still, we were moving the ball fairly easy for a while. This offense is playing top 5 level at the moment. If the defense cleans it up and gets healthier and back to their dominating ways, this can be 2012 all over again but this time a defense that is actually elite, unlike that defense that fell apart due to the Smith bro injuries. Jimmy dropped back like 40 times today and Jordan was never really even close to him at all? Speaks volumes of how well McGlinchey played. Let's see how we overcome Richburg's injury, but any chance we can slide Brunskill inside? I know he can play some guard? Or do we just stick with Garland? I mean he sure didn't play bad today but I'm trying to find a way to get our best five OL on the field. Brunskill is barley 290 lbs...he's strictly a OT. I think he'd get crushed inside. They'll probably just promote Reynolds from the PS if Richburg is done for the year. I think Reynolds could develop into a something, inside. Much further down the road though... He was a guard with flexibility to play outside, but don't think that was ever the intention. Sort of a break glass scenario. He was 290 his last season in college, so I'm reasonably sure that he's a little heavier now, and it's not like person and richburg are known to be big maulers. We want guys who can move in there

We want guys who can move in there Its about functional strength, not about being maulers. He isn't strong enough in his base to move guys inside imo. That's the issue with have with Person. Agile is great and all for our scheme but you still need to be able to drive-block in certain instances and move guys backwards. That's not really a area where he shines but I'd feel much better about him doing that against DEs and OLBs than DTs and NTs.

Can you upgrade? Sure. Can you do much worse? For sure. I don't know why this is an issue for Brunskill, especially when that was the original intention. They obviously saw enough there to like him. The thought on Brunskill was originally guard, and I'd argue that a center has to do less heavy lifting in that regard than guard, and he did line up at center in camp, so the team obviously thought about it. He will match up every now and again from that position, but will do so far less than a guard. None of our interior line drive blocks particularly well except for Tomlinson. That's why we can struggle in short yardage. That's actually very common for most ZBS teams because they tend to go with lighter offensive linemen. Forge
That being said, I think it's probably unlikely unless they get into a bind. Garland will play center, Brunskill will continue to back up tackle. They probably don't want to move him all around if they can help it, especially given the unknown quantity of his play there. But I wouldn't be shocked if he took reps from the inside so that they can get a look at him.
Forge
I hope when we play atlanta, we have Tartt back. It was very evident that we missed him this week. If he's not, the safeties need to be Ward and Moore. Harris was pretty much an unmitigated disaster out there today.

Garland can play any of the 3 interior spots and brunskill can play all 5. Versatile backups are invaluable If richburg is headed to IR then brunskill will most likely be our backup C, so he will certainly need to get some work there

Yes, I think he was originally a center when he got into the league. I'm good with giving Garland a look. He handled himself well.

Pressure was mostly blitz related, and that drive where I commented on the pass protection doing a really good job was after he came in
TecmoSuperJoe
Can't wait to hear Stephen A on the next First Take try to spin how Jimmy is still holding the 49ers back. He's been downplaying dude all year. Everyone: Jimmy G made some good plays to put his team in a position to win. Stephen A Smith: first of all, you're wrong. And let me tell you why...the Saints defense is suspect! Pornstar Jimmy (4TDs) was pedestrian at best! The last time I heard from him, I thought his comments were fair (just that Jimmy basically wasn't the straw that stirred the drink if this team). Curious if Ryan Clark still thinks the 49ers would still be in the same position with Mason Rudolph though 😂😂
