2018 Draft thread - PICK THE FASTEST GUY AVAILABLE

Honestly I'm warming up to the idea of Vea.  He could be what Star Lotulelei was supposed to be.  Have liked him throughout the process wasnt sure if I felt he was the guy at 10.  But he can easily replace Jelly vs the run and still offer some pass rush up the gut.  Not to mention he'd help free it up for whoever plays 3T and the edge guys too.  The supposed next Haloti Ngata?  I'm down for that.

Although another thought I've had is simply to trade down considering how many players I like for us this year.  Could get better value and add a 2nd, which is gold in this draft.

can't say im shocked. dude's a monster.

payne only put up 27, which is disappointing for him

That seems about right for him. Payne wins more with hand quickness than raw upper body power.

Vea needs to be better at using his hands instead of just bull rushing all of the time. We have a solid dline coach that help with that.

Imagine if we drafted vea and signed Wilkerson?

Mack-Vea-Wilkerson-MEJ on run downs? Good luck running on that. Then pull mej and replace him with Irvin on pass downs. It’d be nice

Oh man that could be nasty.  Not sure if I'd trust Wilkerson, but thankfully thats not up to me.

Replace Ellis?

I'd hope he could do more than that. In 4 years the amount of difference making plays Ellis made could be counted on one hand, vs. run or pass. If you mean fill the role Ellis used to, then sure.

Trade down is great, but you have to have a dance partner for that. I wouldn't complain, but won't get my hopes up either. The only thing making #10 a potentially hot pick is a team jumping ahead of Miami for a QB. That all depends on who drops, and who beyond #11 wants the guy pretty badly. Lots of factors at play, but very few factors in it's favor.

Sure, I agree.  I didn't imply I thought trading down would be trivial.  At least I don't think I did.

Vea put up 41 on the bench press :o.  I want some of that hog in the middle of our line.  I would not mind him at 10.

I like him but I'm not in love with him,but If he could be that player that can cause havoc in the interior line and cause double and triple like in college I'm all for him

I just wish we can sign Sheldon Richardon or Suh and draft Landry from Boston College. But like I said I wouldn't be mad if we draft Vea I'm just uncertain about the kid.And don't know how true this is but I heard more then once he takes a lot of plays off, then again Vita Vea & Suh will be down right nasty in the middle

When I think of an interior D-line guy going top 10, I want him to be a pass rush specialist, not just a good run defender and some pass rush ability.

Maybe I am in the minority on that one.

I'm with you. Whoever we draft that high should potentially be a dominant 3 down player. I can't tell if Vea can be a dominant player in passing situations.
