Sure their job is to break stories, but you're taught in the cases of deceased individuals that the ethical thing to do is to allow the police to inform the affected families before you break the stories. You can absolutely blame TMZ in a case like this because what they did is totally unethical. They sold out for a buck just like their sources. The ethics to reporting are long gone. sunnygsm
I feel like after the shock eases, a lot of players will play with more vigor than ever. What better tribute could they give.

While a big loss for basketball in general I think this is a HUGE loss for women's basketball. For years now he has been at the forefront of promoting the game and skill of those women, even just recently saying he thinks some of them can play in the NBA. His voice has been and was going to be big in moving their game forward. RIP I think KD will carry that torch as an ally to the WNBA just fine. pwny
I still can’t really convey clear thoughts about this. I’ve never been a huge, huge fan of the sport, but Kobe was the guy for me in the sport for as long as I had been a fan. The first thing I ever really remember saving money for at that age was for a Kobe Bryant pencil case at the school store. And today, the only basketball related item in my entire house is a Kobe shirsey with an 8 on the front and 24 on the back. I was never really hyper-connected to the sport, but I’m connected through memories to Kobe. And I just don’t know how to feel right now. It ******* sucks.

He routinely ended the Kings seasons in our hay day. His elbow fouled Mike Bibby’s face in 02. He drained game winners against us. I’ve watched him drop 30+ live against us. He was a big part of my childhood and adolescence. I grew up a Laker hater. It’s part of my DNA now. But I respected the hell out of the man on the court. What an amazing talent. What dedication to his craft. He wasn’t a perfect player. He wasn’t a perfect man. But his death has been shocking and devastating. Then to find out that his daughter was in the crash with him was gut wrenching. I couldn’t imagine how hard this is for the remaining family members. You could just see the love he had for Gigi below. As a father, this hit on a whole new level for me. RIP Mamba and Mambacita. Agreed. Hated the Lakers growing up but it was sports hate. He was so damn good it was envy. His competitiveness and dedication to his craft was unmatched by very few. And even after retirement he was becoming even greater. This completely blindsided me. The ending bringing me back in my feelings again. Such a tragedy this has been.

sdrawkcab321
I think there’s going to be a lot more to this story once the back box recordings come out. I just have a feeling.
J-ALL-DAY
Damn, but I bet he probably said this either before his daughters were grown or maybe even before he had them. Immortalized he will be, that's for damn sure.

Kyrie Irving. 2. Devin Booker. Kyrie was said to of heard about his death pregame at MSG yesterday and left the building during warmups. Did not return. I could see him potentially never playing again cause of this. He has been vocal about his existential beliefs recently and this could really send him off the deep end. Kobe was his idol and mentor. Devin Booker was visibly choked up yesterday. Always idolized Kobe, plays same position, wears Kobe's every game, plays the game the same way. However, I could see this pushing him over the edge to adopting the "Mamba" mentality. Forget the pregame fashion show stuff. He dedicates his life to winning and being like Kobe. This is how impactful Kobe Bryant was and will be going forward. Saddest day in sports since Magic announced. What does playing basketball have to do with existentialism? Kyrie would save his body from physical anguish if he retired I guess, but Kobe died in a helicopter crash. It's just a terrible tragedy that really had nothing to do with playing basketball. Kyrie is a weird cat, never know with him. Could be what shows him there is more to life than basketball, etc.? I don't know, but I wouldn't be shocked either.
