Ultimately, the Redskins are in a great spot because they have what they believe to be a potential franchise QB, they just got an insanely talented defensive player in Chase Young and they have a new head coach who has been a winner in the past. But a team doctor is absolutely responsible for following up on things with players. And if for five and a half years, he passed his physicals without once a doctor saying "you need to get that checked out before we clear you" means they failed him as medical professionals. A doctor doesn't just get to pass off their responsibilities as a medical professional because they--one time in five years--said "it looks like nothing to me, but if you're concerned, go talk to someone else". They had a responsibility to do everything they reasonably could have regarding the growth at the very least every time he had a physical, and they didn't do it. They arent premium picks. 49ers are a SB caliber team. This keeps them strong at LT for longer and gives them time to find a long term replacement It was a good deal for both sides, all things considered.
