You can't compare college to the pros though. There's a difference between tackling some guy in the big 10 with a cast And then having to tackle Alvin Kamara Christian McCaffrey the first two weeks of the season with a cast. That's just me being fair. Again I'm not making an excuse but that's a pretty valid reason for why you were missed a lot of tackles.

I'm saying he has consistently had hand/wrist issues, so if you're going to use it as an excuse, you should also be prepared for it to happen again.

He had it his last year in college and he had it last year(six out of seven games). That’s it

Theoretically no because he only played several games last year

Arnette broke his tibia as a freshman at Ohio State, had a lower leg injury as a sophomore, and  broke his wrist as a senior. Last season he hurt his thumb in training camp, broke it even worse against the Patriots, suffered a concussion in week 12, and another concussion in week 13.

Either way in his last two seasons of playing football he has dealt with hand/wrist injuries. And to say he is a good tackler is completely false. He was third in missed tackles overall despite playing 1/3 the snaps of the guys ahead of him.

Warming up? 😂

Yeah, I personally am not a huge fan of going LB early in the 1st round.

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-rankings-the-nfls-top-25-linebackers-ahead-of-the-2020-nfl-season

Look at their list of the top LB's in the NFL coming into the season, 1 of the top 15 guys was a former 1st round pick. How often does a LB come into a defense and elevate it to another level? Most of the best LB's in the league play behind very good defensive lines that keep them clean and allow them to make plays.

Unless a LB is more of an edge rusher 3-4 OLB type, teams usually don't get great return on investment when they take LB's in the 1st round.

Warming up....? It’s a no brainer pick and always has been.

He’s not coming anywhere close to 17 though.

When you look back at the last 5 draft cycles have teams that have invested early picks into non-pass rushing LB's received good ROI?

2020: Arizona - Isaiah Simmons (#8), Los Angeles - Kenneth Murray (#23), Seattle - Jordyn Brooks (#27), Baltimore - Patrick Queen (#28)

Simmons couldn't even really see the field as a rookie so the jury is still out on him but he doesn't look worth the 8th pick right now. Murray wasn't very good as a rookie but the jury is still out. Brooks and Queen both played really poorly as rookies.

2019: Tampa Bay - Devin White (#5), Pittsburgh - Devin Bush (#10)

Devin White is good in run support and great as a blitzer but statistically was the worst LB in coverage in the NFL. Bush played pretty well as a rookie but was hurt last season.

2018: Chicago - Roquan Smith (#8), Buffalo - Tremaine Edmunds (#16), Dallas - Leighton Vander Esch (#19), Tennessee - Rashaan Evans (#22)

Smith and Edmunds are both very good players but both have played behind very good defensive lines. LVE was good as a rookie but has been hurt and regressed big time. Evans has been a bust and is an average player.

2017: Detroit - Jarrad Davis (#21), 49ers - Rueben Foster (#31)

Davis has been a bust and the Lions have already moved on. Foster hasn't ever been healthy and is a bust.

2016 - New York - Darron Lee (#20)

Lee isn't even on an NFL roster anymore.

So of all of the non pass rushing LB's taken early the only two that have been Pro Bowers and consistently good are Edmunds and Smith. Smith has also had the benefit of playing behind one of the best defensive lines in football and on a great defense overall. White has had his strong points but has been terrible in coverage and he too has had the benefit of playing behind an elite defensive line.

Notice a trend though? The LB's that are taken early and pan out typically go to defenses that are already pretty good and have stacked defensive lines.

The Rams had the best defense in the league and their two starting LB's were Kenny Young a former 4th round pick and Troy Reeder an UDFA with limited playing experience.

When you look at the top defenses in the league there's one consistent theme: they have a very strong pass rush and 1/2 Pro Bowl or All-Pro defensive backs.

The main thing is you have to get to the quarterback.

you look at the box this year they didn’t have one pro bowl or all pro DB but they could get to the quarterback as good as anyone.

They were 5th in the NFL in sacks and had one of, if not the, best defensive lines in the league with JPP, Veta, Suh, and Barrett. And although none of their DB's were Pro Bowlers, Carlton Davis, Antoine Winfield Jr, Jordan Whitehead, SMB, and Jamal Dean is a very good young collection of DB's. They were also top 5 in turnovers forced last season as well.

The Saints had Cam Jordan, Marshon Lattimore, and Marcus Williams.

The Rams had Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and John Johnson III.

The Steelers had TJ Watt, Stephen Tuitt, Bud Dupree, Steven Nelson, and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The Ravens had Matt Judon, Calias Campbell, Marlon Humphrey, and Marcus Peters.

The Chiefs had Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and Tyran Mathieu.

The best defenses in the league have guys that can consistently generate pressure and DB's that make plays.
