There are some maybe almost transcendent talents...but even then, guys like McCaffrey, Kamara, et al have to be in the right situation to do what they do. Lev Bell went from the best RB in the league, to basically nothing. Gurley went from "nothing special" to "best RB in the league" before the injuries came back to reclaim him for the depths of mediocrity. Situation just seems so much more important than raw talent at the position these days. Gurley was a great talent held back by the offense around him. Goff had the same issue. I don't really feel like McCaffrey would struggle in many situations, outside of the 2016 Rams. You're giving an elite HB 250 to 300 touches per year. It makes a difference. 2 minutes ago, The LBC said: Where's What's-His-Name with his trusty index card to measure? Was that Steratore? No wonder their offense was so good first two games. Although he’s being way too cute and vanilla tonight. He really is a top tier OC. Gonna be sad when the Jaguars either have to promote him to HC, or lose him to someone else who is going to make him a HC again (which will go badly). Just nice to see a Jaguars offense that actually makes some sense, and looks like it has some semblance of purpose and design to it for once, in like...decades. But Jay Gruden really does seem like one of those guys whose sorta capped out with a ceiling of "top tier Coordinator", and isn't really suited to that jump to HC. Absolutely tremendous coordinator and terrible head coach. He’s having a bit of a stale game tonight but the OL has also been atrocious. If the dude hadn't hired terrible DCs, he might still be HC in Washington. He needs to surround himself with talented coordinators, but he wasn't an abjectly terrible HC. Kind of strikes me as an average one.
