But he manages to pull off a play doing so, most of the time. So whether you consider unorthodox mechanics at times to be a weakness...up to you. Similar to holding on to the ball to long. Sometimes it gets him sacked, some times he's letting plays develop and he hits a massive play. I would consider it a weakness if it leads to mistakes but in all reality Rodgers has shown the ability to basically throw whatever way he wants to and has been accurate doing it. Although mechanically he does sort of free style it at times its never seemed like his mechanics have ever lead to mistakes. If anything him being able to freestyle mechanics and basically throw any which way is a huge strength. He doesn't have to step into a throw or do a full motion to get the ball out with velocity and accuracy.

You can't step up into the pocket and you can't see the middle of the field - two key aspects for TB. There isn't a single QB in the league who doesn't struggle when consistently rushed up the middle sans maybe Russel Wilson who seems more comfortable outside the pocket then in. MWil23
Montana: Injuries, lack of elite arm strength and height Brady: Solid but not great arm, and aside from Randy Moss in 2007, his passes downfield/completion percentage hasn't been great. Against elite DL's he has shown that he's human. (See: The NYG) Steve Young: Injuries, wrong place/wrong time (The Cowboys Dynasty, Brett Favre Back to Back to Back MVPs, Tampa Bay, USFL) Manning: Early in his career the 3-4 defense, having to play Tom Brady, terrible defense, drunk kicker... He didn't play Tom Brady. He played against Belichick's defense.

Kiwibrown
Johnny Manzeil, cocaine and Johnny Football. Joe Montana needed to win more superbowls than Brady. Peyton Manning, nothing was his fault. ever. Eli manning, non superbowl years. Drew Brees doesn't get better in the big games. And I think he loved his stats more than winning. For many years, he and the Saints were known for blowing out teams in primetime games, and he had a stretch of Monday night games at one point with some kind of crazy stats like 64 TDs and 5800 yards through 16 Monday night games(or primetime games). He also has a better postseason rating than regular season rating, and during his 09 superbowl run, he went 70.6% completions, 8 TDs, 0 INTs, 117 rating through three games. Just a vibe I get. definitely no substance.

To be fair as time went on the 49ers offensive line got worse towards the end of the 90's.
