According to my 8 year old's homework, there are 6 oceans now? Back in my day there were only 4, not sure how they discovered 2 new ones in the last 20 years

Maybe the authorities are confusing the word ocean with sea?

Wife and I had a good conversation and we actually flipped to a different property.  We went a little more rural and she loved the place we found.  It checks the same amount of boxes, but is on three acres.  It is back near the Chesapeake Bay- though it’s a two mile walk to get to the beach community- and we’re the first house so we don’t see anyone else on the road.

Someone flipped this house and did not get a chance to do much with the kitchen aside from new appliances, and we would have money left over with the price difference so we would immediately hire our current neighbor who does great work to re-do the kitchen.  My agent is also interfacing with the builder directly, and we have a pretty good offer.  While still contingent, we offered ‘rent’ to him during the duration of the contract period, and our agent assured him of the value of our house, we’re serious buyers and are in a great place with the current mortgage.  Pre-approval letter also came in at a better monthly payment than we were thinking too.

Holding out hope!

Put the offer in, had good hopes initially.  Seller was communicative, said he would get back within a day, then he started to ghost us and we started to feel off.  Did some research on him and there was a lot of news made about 7-8 years ago about him being one of the area’s worst ‘slumlords’ and it appears he is still up to his old tricks.  We never heard after 48 hours and pulled the offer.

We have one last offer into an area house before we stop looking until the first of the year.

Any of you guys use a CPAP machine?

I was having jaw discomfort, when I told my dentist and he located the pain, he instantly suggested a sleep doctor.

I took an at home sleep test, and turns out I have mild sleep apnea. Doc said I stopped breathing 10 times an hour.

So I’m getting a CPAP. Curious how it works for others. I never sleep through the night, and I typically wake up feeling really groggy so hoping this helps

My dad was diagnosed with sleep apnea and has been use a CPAP Machine for 4 years now and he told me it improved his quality of sleep and energy during the day. There's many different types though one's that cover the mouth or nose. I also thought I had sleep apnea as my sleep was gotten worse the past few years but for me it was a deviated septum that gotten worse over time. I'm about a month post surgery has my sleep quality has drastically improved. Hardly waking up multiple times a night now. I only regret not having this surgery much sooner.

It really helped me a lot

It takes a bit to get used to at first

I just use the nose pillow mask and it works great

They accepted our offer.  We move in a little over two months because he’s got to find a home as well, and we have to sell ours.

Going from 2100 square feet to nearly 3900 with a gigantic garage and an acre of land is exciting.

Congrats man! We did the 2 months of waiting after buying as well; the sellers wanted their kids to finish their year of school, which we respected, and they needed the contingent sale to leverage into buying their new home out of state. My in-laws are great, but any time spent living in a space that isn't yours as an adult is difficult. That 2 months felt like forever.

3900 square feet is absolutely massive. Isn't it just two of you?

I remember being in school when they separated the Southern/Antarctic.  I never really learned much about it, because I was in high school, or just entering high school when they added it, but I remember it being in my brother's text books;  he was 5 years behind me in school.

What is the 6th?

I tried one for a few years.  When I could sleep, it was better, but it woke me up multiple times throughout the night too.  I did an in hospital sleep study for it one time where they alter the force throughout the night while they monitor you, and the tech said I never registered reaching REM sleep a single time throughout the night.  So they finally recommended CPAP probably wasn't the route for me, and I was able to move to a different stage.

It wasn't for me, but I'd recommend anyone try it if they aren't getting quality sleep.  That compounds into affecting every other part of your life, even before considering the possibility of dying in your sleep.

I ended up getting sent to a sleep dentist that made a mouth piece that I've used for the past year, and it has legit changed my life.  My insurance covered everything, but they wouldn't cover the dentist until they wasted their money and my time on the multiple CPAP trials and sleep studies.  I still had to front the sleep dentist bills but my medical reimbursed everything.  I don't carry dental insurance anymore, and wasn't at that time either, so I wasn't complaining about having to front the bills, but some people might not be able to afford that.

We’re thinking kids here shortly, but we also are both sentimental and remember her parents and my grandparents with their formal living rooms/dining rooms and want to mirror that.  There is also furniture that both parties have that we would be able to take, and there is no space in the current house for it- nor does it fit style or storage wise.

My grandmother also made a lot of Christmas decorations/ornaments, and there is a Victorian-style tree that she has that we’re taking with us, which we wouldn’t have a spot for in the current place, as well as my Christmas village set that I had growing up.

There used to be a big mall in Landover that was dead when Jack Kent Cooke bought the land for Fed Ex Field.  Since then, the mall was actually demolished and nothing has gone there.  Meanwhile, aside from that area, that spot has exploded and has multiple different shopping center locations- but no mall.

The brick and mortar huge shopping centers are going away.  The open air, town center things (at least that is what we call them) are what’s succeeding right now.  The only shopping mall I know around here that is doing well, is the one that has Maryland Live casino in it, a huge Bass Pro Shop, Best Buy, ****’s Sporting Goods and a branch of the local community college in it, so there is no way that it can’t do well.

We've gone this insane "empty retail space" problem across most of North America right now.  From all the huge retailers we've killed off with ****ty Amazon and stuff.

A few places are trying to get creative with it.  Turn it into an enormous dog park, or demising it into like 5 slightly smaller spaces.  It's all still mostly failure.

We're just at this point where the actual brick and mortar stores can't keep enough inventory in stock to allow people to actually touch or feel or see the product to compare it there, and buy it there.  Everything is just..."order online" even from the actual store.  So what's the point?

I just really miss being able to go and physically experience whatever the product is.  That was neat.
