pf9
We should want records to be broken, especially if individual records are held by a player someone doesn't like, or team records held by a team we don't like. I've never seen the record for most combined points in an NFL game broken in my lifetime, there have been several close but no cigars. A good way we can see that record broken in our lifetimes is if the NFL adopts college OT rules, which would also make the NFL the last league to eliminate ties from ever happening. biggie.
I don't know how if this could be done, but for the sake of player safety I'd axe preseason entirely and reduce the season down to 14 maybe even 12 games. DigInBoys
Regarding records being broken: 1. Season used to be 14 games, so that cat is out the door already. 2. The rule changes to make the game more offense-oriented have already ensured that records will be broken due to stuctural changes. Aussie9er
Rather have 16 games but the money is too tempting to owners to stay at that. There goes all the records. Just wished they done it like we have in Australia in afl we have rivalry round where you play your rivals could of done something similar so for that extra round afc play nfc rivals. So both NY teams play each other, Texas teams, LA teams etc. Would prefer that to what there doing.
BobbyPhil1781
Maybe I care too much about the historical data and it's integrity. I hope they start anew and learn from the mistake of when they didn't and the season was only 14 games.

ThatJaxxenGuy
There are going to be a lot of injured teams, and a lot of week 16-17-18 toilet bowl games.

But the NFL has been going on 16 games way longer than it went on for 14 games. 42 years compared to 16 years. Might as well have kept that going. And some records even with rule changes were hard to break regardless. Dickerson's rushing record has stood since 1984, and now if someone breaks it it's because they had an extra game. That's stupid. More than anything it's annoying to see broken records glorified without taking into consideration the circumstances/OldManYellsAtCloud.jpg Edited February 26, 2021 by TecmoSuperJoe

People don't do that though. They just look at totals instead regardless of amount of games played.
