a bit out of nowhere. he might not have been worth that contract, but he's still been a solid player

He was one of the worst-rated CB's for 2018 & 2019.  He was better this year before hitting IR, but he wasn't even close to worth the big $ FA deal he got.

He owes every $ he got from Tennessee to Russell Wilson, TBH.

... I think you know what they're doing.

I know they're freeing up the space they need to make moves, but I'm not a big fan of this one.  It just creates another hole to fill, and really sets them up for a tough situation in 2022 when Adoree becomes a free agent and the only CBs worth a dang will be Fulton and whoever they now have to draft this year to replace Butler.

Oh well.

Oh well.

FWIW it's a running joke that every FA move made keeps getting reported by media talking heads as Team X making room for Watson lol.

Making room for Watson...

When you come into each FA thread about a release and try to get in on the joke, only to have been consistently beaten to the punch...

Oh well.

This CB free agent group is pretty strong.  Probably can fill the hole created with a FA replacement.

Partially, but he was elevated to a starter in 2015 and played quite well. He was never going to be a star #1 CB, but he was more than just a 1 play wonder. TEN definitely overpaid him though, there was a reason BB gave Gilmore the money many expected would go Butler's way.
