John Elway in the 80s was the Jim Carrey of football

Jim Carrey carried that Sonic movie to success. There were no good actors or actresses in that movie at all but him. The other actors/actresses were HORRIFIC, yet that movie was great because of ONE man. He is one of the greatest actors of all-time and had the best carry job of any actor ever. I am asking if John Elway in the 1980s was viewed like Jim Carrey is viewed today? In that he carried many teams/movies to success that had nothing without him.

Today? What year is this?

He went to three Super Bowls before Davis was even drafted.

And how did he do?

Pre-TD he went 0-3

XXI: 22/37 59.5% 304yds 1TD 1INT

XXII: 14/38 36.8% 257yds 1TD 3INT

XXIV: 10/26 38.5% 108yds 0TD 2INT

average: 45.5% .7TD 2INT

With TD he went 2-0

XXXII: 10/22 45.5% 123yds 0TD 1INT

XXXIII: 18/29 62.1% 336yds 1TD 1INT

average: 54.9% .5TD 1INT

His postseason career average is 54.5% 1.2TD 1INT per game. You could argue different era, which I agree with to an extent. But his peers put up superior numbers and that's who I judge him against.

To be fair, this is a jab at Dan Marino more than anything. As someone I know said Jim Carrey was the best thing about the films he is in and carries the cast often, so that means Dan Marino was carried. I haven't seen the movie those two were in so I can't comment on Marino's acting abilities. Fine QB for certain though.

Thanks for explaining this and making your stupid OP even more idiotic.

This thread is causing me a lowkey epistemological crisis because now I feel like I have to watch the Sonic movie to respond to it, but I really don't want to.

It’s actually the last movie I saw at a movie theater

His first 3 SB's came at a time when the NFC Championship was the real Super Bowl.
