If we lose Rodgers over this Ted might have to draft a QB in the first round this spring.  Remember, Goodell suspended Brady over a technicality.

Brady was suspended because the black eye the league took over the incident, as well as the rule is in place for competitive balance.

This did not do anything to the leagues image and this rule is in place to keep NFL teams from holding young players with non season ending injuries hostage on IR.

Though it would be very interesting if he was released, would GB be his first choice?

He is going to go thru waivers and he'll end up in Cleveland.

If the Packers did have to release Rodgers, I believe his years of service in the league would be sufficient enough that he would not be subject to the waiver rules.  He'd immediately be a free agent.

Of course almost every team has employed this same procedure in the past...its only now coming up because its Rodgers.

Honestly, I don't think the NFL can really do anything more than a slap on the wrist.  There was no competitive advantage gained, and the NFLPA is going to lose their mind about it all together.
