All but 1M of his gtd money is already paid since he got his 5M roster bonus last month.

They could release him before June and it would only cost 3.7M.

Where does this $5 mil roster bonus come from?  Neither site shows any roster bonus due in 2021.  OTC is typically spot on but their numbers don't add up even from their own matrix.  This is what I get so where am I wrong?

Foles got an $8 mil SB and a $4 mil 2020 salary.  That's $12 to date.

He's guaranteed another $4 mil in salary this year.  That's $16 mil by Jan 2022.

In 2022 he's guaranteed $1 mil in salary and a $4 mil roster bonus.  That's his $21 mil guaranteed.

So if he's released in 2021 he's still owed $9 mil in cash and we eat another $5.3 mil in unamortized SB.

I wonder if Charles Leno has any trade value? Sure we don't think he is a great LT but he has started every game for the last 6 seasons, is still just under 30 years old, isn't being paid a crazy amount and plays a primer position that their is always a shortage of.

OTC takes it off as soon as the date appears (assuming to not confuse folks). If you hover over the notepad icon under 2021 it'll say

March 20: 4M fully gtd roster bonus due.

He has none....like not trying to be rude but what team are you thinking needs to trade for a bargain basement LT? haha.....he is a starter for a .500 type team....I could see someone signing him if he is cut but no trades....he would be a lateral move to any good teams backup LT

I think Leno will start this year. Jenkins plays RT.

In 2022, you only have to replace Leno and should have an established Jenkins.

So do I...I just wonder if we could speed that process up if he has value.

He isn't a bargain basement LT tho...again he is not great but he is better than a lot of guys starting in the NFL at that spot.

Probably. If Jenkins comes in and takes the LT job you are probably move likely to move him in camp to replace the picks you lost last year.

Whenever it happens, Jenkins is the next starting LT.

I see that but it must be a mistake.  There is no roster bonus due in 2021.  The matrix even shows that.   It's come in 2022.  Why when up against the cap would they pay out $4 mil a year ahead of time.  A note says it was triggered to be paid in 2021 and if that's true they should adjust their matrix to coincide with that.  Even then they still owe him $1 mil cash for 2022 and have two years of his pro-rata SB  @ $2,666,666 each dead money.  Post June 1st that could be divided into half in 2021 and half in 2022 but if they've already paid him his $4 mil 2022 roster bonus and he's due another $4 mil in 2021 gtd salary ($8 mil cash) I don't see them just releasing him.

Their numbers don't seem to add up.

Contract Notes

Nick Foles signed a restructured 3 year contract with the Chicago Bears after the trade from Jacksonville.  Details on the contract are courtesy of Brad Biggs here.  The base value of the contract is $24 million with $17 million fully guaranteed.  Foles received a $4 million signing bonus, along with full guaranteed salaries in 2020 and 2021; along with a guaranteed $4 million roster bonus in 2021.  $1 million of Fole's base salary in 2022 is guaranteed at signing as well.  Foles can earn a $4 million roster bonus in 2022.  Foles can also earn up to $6 million annually through incentives, but we are still working on getting those details.  Foles can also void the last two years of the contract if specific performance thresholds are met.

I like the fact he can back up at least 3 spots on that OL.

I am fine with Ifedi. He can backup the right side. If Leno goes down you move Jenkins over and have Ifedi slide in.

The domino effect of adding a talent of Jenkins is huge for the line.
