Only to have Ridder get the stupid pass knocked down. I think Pierce is closer to what the Packers have done in the past. Olave will be a fine football player in the NFL, just not sure size wise if he's what the Packers look for. Maybe they change that in this draft. I like Olave, I'm an Ohio State fan, and wouldn't be disappointed if he's the pick, but I think he's a complementary WR. Depending on whether the Packers intend to add a serious veteran WR, they should double up early in the draft. My combo would be an Olave/Burks with a Watson/Pierce. So much yes. I was listening again recently to some of MLFs remarks about the WR position. He mentioned two roles - the "separator", who can win with route running, quickness and hands (Adams), and a "guy who can take the top off a defense" (MVS). I think Olave/Pierce would be perfect to fill these two roles. I think we have 4 wr roles on the offense, including the outlet slot filled by Cobb and the red zone/blocking/jump ball role filled by Lazard. I think they like having a big deep threat, but I'm not sure this "separator" role has the same height/weight reqs we see at some of the other spots. We just don't know since they've never needed to replace Adams but it was interesting how MLF only commented on the agility, precision and reliability needed for success in the role, not the size.

This is true. Adams has been here since MLF got here, so they've never needed to fill that role. Maybe they do go for somebody like Olave then. Good point. You would think they would have drafted a player in that mold, but maybe the opportunity wasn't there.

packfanfb
Three 2-round mocks were as follows: Mock 1 -- Wyatt (DL), Burks (WR), Pitre (S/CB) and Tolbert (WR) Mock 2 - Penning (OT), Hill (S/CB), Watson (WR), Pierce (WR) Mock 3 - Olave (WR), Ojabo (EDGE), Leal (DL), Metchie (WR) Even though I'm a big Olave guy, I think Mock 2 is your best value. Mazrimiv
For myself, select Burks at #28 and Tolbert in RD3 and I'll be happy enough.

Number 3. Adding Edge and DL to a WR double dip is best.

There are definitely different roles, as Gute likened a WR corps to being a basketball team. Still, like the modern NBA, things are becoming more “positionless” and having guys that can do multiple things well and not just specialize makes for a much more balanced attack.

Garrett Wilson and Olave are guys who could conceivably belong on both lists.

I think 2 as well. But I have to say, we are in a pretty good position to red shirt Ojabo. I really think he is an elite prospect. I don't think I could pass on him at 22, tbh. Nick_gb
If I had to pick my favorite double dip at WR in the draft, it would be pairing Olave & Watson in Green Bay.
