The issue wasnt the positional conversion, it's drafting a terrible college player who's already 24 years old.

Deablo was actually a good player in college.

This seems like an overreaction. Muse definitely made plays in college, but he was a tweener without a clear pro projection. Deablo is too, but is definitely more built and is a natural player in coverage. Plus Richard Smith is a respected LB coach. If he says Deablo can play will/as a coverage backer in the future, I'm way more likely to believe it than whoever the hell we had the year before.

It's like if Milus wanted Nate Hobbs I'm way more with it.

I know this will sound harsh, but I actually think Mayocks drafts will look a lot better considering he is "drafting for the coaches" now that we have a better defensive staff. Maybe that's just me though. It's hard to fault the man if he was forced to draft for Guenther's prototype (lol).

I really doubt Muse was a pick for Gunther.

Seems like a special teams pick and someone who Gruden probably loved in interviews.

Tanner Muse pro day numbers were almost identical to Devin White's combine numbers. Gruden/Mayock tried to outsmart everyone.

Well he hast to go through waivers which is 24 hours from now so..

Patrick Onwuasor was productive for two of the best defenses in the league in 2019/2018. 123 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 13 TFL, 3 FF, and 1 INT wile playing less than half of their defensive snaps. Don't think Tanner's coming back. If we wanted him on the practice squad, couldn't we have just demoted him? Why cut him, let him clear waivers, and then bring him back?

If Tannner Muse clears waivers sign him to the practice squad and play him at his natural position Box strong safety.  There is a very large miss chance in trying to convert a safety to linebacker.  If we play him at Box strong safety he could be a good backup for our Strong Safety in case he gets hurt and that's what the Practice is for to develop players.  He was over drafted he should have gone in round 5 as a DB.  I think Maycock heard rumblings that another team was considering and jumped on him.

If the team had any plans for him or faith that he could be a good player for us we wouldn't have cut him, lol.

It's funny because as we're getting better because of FA, it makes our draft decisions look horrible. That being said, it's better to cut bait then to hold on too long. Javin White looked really good and may be the future of the LB position here anyways.

We started signing good players and not penciling guys into starting roles due to draft position when we hired a real defensive coordinator.

IIRC Deablo had a great week at the Senior Bowl playing SS/LB. NFL's combine page compared him to Kyzir White who is another former SS that Bradley/Smith actually drafted and had success with.

There is is!

I was waiting for Moore to get announced officially because he is a solid player that I think MAYBE better than a few WRs we have on the 53.

And our spy from Bal! Not to mention he is a good player as well in a position of need.

Carolina fans were high on him when they signed him.

True. Every great GM/Coach hit on every single mid round pick.

Lots of guys don’t work out. We didn’t need the benefit of hindsight to rail against the Muse pick at the time.

literally nobody was mad when we took Mack #5 overall. But people were upset when we took Ferrell. We didn’t need to wait for Mack to be an all pro or Cle to fall to 2nd team to form those opinions
