I dont think they'll tag Adams if he doesn't want to be here.  Hopefully, they can work something out.  On the flip side, they don't have a solid #1 WR if he goes.   Thats pretty important if Love takes over.

Why wouldn't they?  Chicago tagged Allen Robinson and he seemed to make it clear he didn't want back.  There's absolutely ZERO reason to let Adams walk as a FA.  None.

Rodgers does not approve of how you want to treat Adams.

I'd list Z as a cut, replace Davante with Jenkins for the extension, and put Preston, Marcedes and Tonyan in the "will be" category.

The Packers are probably going to go through cap hell with a Rodgers trade, plus all their cap casualties (Preston Smith, Za'Darius Smith, Randall Cobb) will put them at nearly $49M in dead cap for the 2022 season.  But after the 2022 season, the Packers are going to be north of $120M in cap space potentially.  Elgton Jenkins' extension and Tonyan will probably eat into that, but nothing crazy.

Thats not how GB operates.  I agree they should tag him if it comes to that.  They won't, the last thing they want is disgruntled players in Green Bay.  Green Bay is all about the locker room.  The question will be how pissed will he be with the tag.   The Packers care about that stuff, Chicago doesnt.

Doesn't change the idea that Rodgers wouldn't approve of how you are treating Adams..... still about the people

Rodgers doesn't give a crap how they are treating Adams this year.  He wants to win it all this year, show the Packers he's still the man and then more than likely move on to another team.

So they will let him go in free agency and all they get is a 3rd round comp choice?  No frickin way that happens.  If Packer brass did that they should all be fired for being idiots.  They will trade him if it comes to that but I'm thinking he'll be back one way or another.

I think they'll make every effort to sign him.  A lot will depend on the Rodgers situation and how he feels about Love.

The Packers haven't used the franchise tag since 2010 when they franchise tagged Ryan Pickett.  They're the only team to not use it since then.  Either your theory runs true or the Packers didn't really have any FAs that were worthy of the franchise tag.  The best FAs the Packers have had were Daryn Colledge/Cullen Jenkins in 2011, Scott Wells in 2012, Greg Jennings in 2013, none in 2014, Davon House in 2015, Casey Hayward in 2016, JC Tretter/Micah Hyde in 2017, Morgan Burnett in 2018, none in 2019, Bryan Bulaga/Blake Martinez in 2020, and Corey Linsley in 2021.  Of all the FAs, only Greg Jennings might have been the only player worthy of the franchise tag.

This offseason is going to be a can of worms.

And we had Cobb, Adams and Nelson in their prime so there is no need to tag Jennings. He turned down a very solid offer to take less to go to MN when the market became very lukewarm compared to what he thought he was worth.

There was also no love lost between Jennings and Rodgers at that point either.

Adams is getting tagged or it's malpractice by Gute.

Jennings signed with Minnesota in 2013. Adams wasn’t drafted until 2014.
