Thats a great question. We wont know until he gets signed and we see how he is on the field whenever he takes it. I think if a title contender gets him on a cheaper deal then it will still be worth it bc if he isnt the same then it wont be giving up much. If his play is still that of a top 5 corner then its a game-changer for that team on defense.

Thanks.

If Gilmore plays without a new contract he is the dumbest player in history!!!! That's also another reason he had no trade value. You trade him the other team has to (stay on IR) sign him to a new deal sight unseen!!!

That is spot on what you just said. Idk what happened though with him in New England bc there was trade rumors of him last season and in the offseason. So we look at today and see Gilmore and Smith both get cut. Gilmore most recently was viewed as one of the top defensive backs in the NFL. Won DPOY. Smith had so much potential and talent and the Cowboys gave him a big contract even before they gave Zeke and Dak. So oh how things change so quickly. Its going to be interesting to see where both guys land but especially Gilmore and see how much he still has left.

Yeah he wants elite money being 31 coming off a quad injury. The Pats were never going to give him that. I guess they decided to cut theirs losses now.

Wanting is one thing.

sherman got close to the minimum and also had a great 19 season. Gilmore will get more but nothing close to 15 million until he proves he can still play

This one is going to be interesting, he is already bagging about 7mill so I wonder how much he is willing to play for this season. It might be he takes a 1 year deal if he truly wants to bet on himself.

One of the best free agent signings in recent memory. The deflection in the 4th quarter of the 2017 AFC title game and the clinching interception in the Super Bowl against the Rams are iconic moments in pats history
