Is Pitt going to recruit another four 5* guys next year to replace Addison with equal talent?

No one misses the studs at Duke, UNC, Kansas or Kentucky because they just recruit another class of studs every year. Those guys go pro too, not to another college program.

Kentucky isn't poaching the best players from Virginia Tech, Miami OH, UNLV and Rutgers every year, they're just taking the best HS talent. If you're a big fan of Southern Miss football, and you grab a 2* RB who's electric, you shouldnt have to worry about Bama and Georgia offering him 3 mil to leave your school.

Totally OK with NIL, and even offering kids money to go to your school out of HS. You shouldn't be able to transfer for money though, the scales are tilted enough.

Why not? The NFL guys get to transfer for money.

Once they fulfill their contract, and if they want to force their way out prior, the pro organization gets something in return for them.

That kind of makes for an interesting idea.  Maybe the scholarships should be 3-5 year guarantees vs one year.

Pass on that idea. If the college teams want to create limiting rules, they can stop pretending these guys are amateurs and negotiate a CBA with them.

Are we going to have an NIL spending floor and cap? Are we revenue sharing USC's booster money with Coastal Carolina? Are we rewarding schools that lose a player via NIL transfer with a donation to their NIL pool? Extra scholarships?

The NFL has processes in place to level the playing field. Right now the NCAA has the opposite, and it's getting worse.

You want to know why we don't have that? Because the NCAA and its members don't want to bargain with the players and share revenue with them. A CBA could mandate all of that.

Kid gets scholarship offer from coaching staff A at school A, also small NIL bonus. Signs, redshirts first year, coaching staff gets fired. Position coach takes up offer at school B, gets new contract with school B. New coaching staff arrives at school A, inform kid he will be riding bench / in doghouse / not playing. Kid transfers to school B thanks to connection with position coach.

Kid does not deserve new money from NIL at school B, would forfeit NIL from school A as well.

Is this your proposal?

We're going to not try and stop the scenario that happens 99% of the time because of the scenario that happens 1% of the time? There was always a committee that handled unique circumstances for transferring and eligibility, that committee can remain for unique circumstances.

I'm more so calling out that coaches can leave one school for another and get paid, but according to you, you don't think the student-athlete should be able to do the same?

Lots can change from one year to the next, and when you start looking at 3-4 years of eligibility (and then there's redshirting), the place an athlete commits to one year can look drastically different in a very short order. Forcing them to stay in place or not get paid seems silly.
