also longer offensive drives from us  keeps kc off the field and allows defense time to rest and strategize

So from this we can agree that KCs second drive off the game, which was 11 plays for an 89 yard TD, gave their D an advantage because they were rested and strategizing going up against our O?😀

Theres no way our D wouldve been tried from our O at that point. It was the second drive of the game.
And you literally just explained how longer offensive drives, helps the D.
It started with KC long drive second possession, they had time to game plan for our O because of it.

Full circle. 😀

Offense and defense were an embarrassment yesterday. And the defense has been good all year. They sucked yesterday. Atrocious run defense, awareness, tackling, and inability to capitalize on turnovers.

What? What are we talking about our defense or kc’s?

Be realistic you don’t shut out kc you out score kc. Kc is built to out score people. You have to put up points and hope your defense gets some stops to beat kc.

Do you at least agree with that strategy to defeat kc?

haha sorry, I was just giving the flip side of what you said. You said if our O stayed on the field longer it would help our D.
And I def agree with that.
But KCs O was staying on the field for long drives. Which as we would both agree, helped out their D.
So it is kind of a chicken vs egg thing. Our D was giving up long drives all game, some were bend but dont break and held to FGs, which was good, but they were still long offensive drives for KC keeping their D rested.

100% I agree, you need to get a lead on KC early and keep the pressure coming.
Our D started out as good as it gets. Defer the kick and then go 3 and out is literally the best you can ask for.
Our O actually was driving, then on 3rd and 2, we dumped to jacobs, (who I actually think got it), then leatherwood jumped offside making it 4th and 5 and we punted. (we actually had brought mariota in to go for 4th and inches).

We then punted, and KC scored a long TD drive.
We got ball back did nothing, but got bailed out by AJ Cole, and turned it into a TD. (Turnovers help create momentum).

KC then had another long drive. Giving their D more time to rest (we agree this helps the KC D).
We punt (terrible 4 play series)
KC has another long TD drive.

Those 3 drives accounted for 15 mins of O for KC.
That is not on our Offensive. That is our D, not being able to get off the field on 3rd down.

Our first 3 series, vs their first 3 series, where similar clock possession. (albiet we got bailed out from a fumble punt).

Yes, that's the strategy we tried to put together. If the refs could only call one of the 2 penalties happening on the 4th and 1 at the end of the 1st half, it's 13-7 at the half and possibly a 14-13 lead after our 1st drive in the 2nd half. Got to catch those picks in the 2nd half though. Teams have beaten KC because they got those turnovers.

If you agree with that strategy then what didn’t happen with that strategical game plan to beat kc?

I agree or if the offense could actually consistently put up points iirc last time we beat kc it wasn’t a low scoring game.

like I mentioned earlier even after the djax fumble defense held kc to a fg and we were still in the game

Yes, the game was over when Carr threw that pick. The team moved on to next week after that.

24-21 in the 4th quarter is much more manageable then 27-14.

A lot went wrong. Easy to over react. The defense struggled despite good pressure. Hayward had a pick go through his hands, then Maxx got a frustration penalty that set them up to open the score.

Moehrig had an almost pick as well that could have turned things. Both sides of the ball struggled, but they had chances and it didn't break their way.

If they come out tight on offense this week against Cincy and lay an egg, then we can probably stick a fork in them.

Last Sunday was the epitome of a handful of play were the difference in the game. If DeSean Jackson keeps running straight. We get those two picks the outcome of may have been different.

Hopefully they take the embarrassing loss last week and really allow it to fuel them for the rest of the season.

Also... it sucks, but you cannot really discount the impact the events this season have had on this group. They can say it's not a distraction, but it has to be emotionally exhausting in the locker room.

Gruden was an overlord in that organization. A massive figure that was just gone one day. And you have teammates on both sides of the ball with first round selection pedigrees screw up off the field.

Imagine coming to work and the HC's office is cleared out. The locker room has 2 empty lockers under disgraceful releases. A person lost her life. It's on national news everywhere. Everyone wants to talk about it. It's the topic of conversation for weeks.

There is no way you can simply ignore all of that mentally and trudge on. Time has to heal the wounds.

You're asking a lot of players to rally around after such a tumultuous series of events in a short time.

100% agree with all of this. Not only the emotional/mental/psychological side of all these distractions and negativity that has happened this season, but losing Ruggs also had a negative impact on the offensive Xs-and-Os as well (which the offense is still trying to overcome). There will be an asterisk beside the team’s struggles this season, and it can’t be discounted.
