“this whole time, people thought Kyler Murray spends hours playing Call of Duty but he’s actually the best OL guru in the league”

maybe PJJ is the guy

If PJJ goes #3, the Bears need Wright at #9.

To be fair our RBs alone last year averaged 4.48 ypc (1650 yards on 368 carries) with 9 TDs. That’s damn good. Some of that is glow off from the defense having to allow for Fields as a runner as well but that will be the case in 2023 too. How much better than that should we realistically expect from Robinson?

Considerably, considering I doubt Herbert gets remotely close to 5.7 ypc again. The Fields distraction in regards to Robinson’s impact could be like giving Barry Bonds steroids.

On another note, the people condemning the possibility of taking him because we “already had the best rushing offense” conveniently leave out at 1143 of it was our quarterback and our top runningback only went for 4.0 ypc. I figure the NFL learns how to gum up Fields’ rushing a bit more next year and without good improvements to the line or addition of Bijan, all 3 of our top rushers look inferior to their last year selves. There is also reason to be concerned about what D’onta will really offer us as he’s getting a noticeable downgrade at OL from his CAR days

they pointed out that not only has the current GM not drafted an RB since 2010 in teh first round they've literally never drafted anyhting but QB, WR, OL and DL in round one which is a very interesting statistic and as far as "rules" go, one I would be happy to have our Bears live by as well.

He drafted Miles Sanders at #53 a few years ago, the 2nd RB drafted.

Some of these things are just guys trying to dig too much at this point

True, if I recall that started the run on RBs that led the Bears to Montgomery, right?

Wasn't saying it was any kind of a guarantee, more that if we consider the Eagles to be a well built team it's interesting to see their draft traits.  Wouldn't shock me if they did take Bijan and I think given their roster and window it would make a lot of sense.

Its not like he was picking diamonds in the rough there

Humphrey was the 3rd C taken and 15th overall lineman taken. Wirfs had question marks surrounding him and looked good but didn’t look like he’d turn into an elite all pro RT. Neither are 7th round impossible finds but theyre possibly the best OL taken

Yea there were what 5 in that 3rd round? After Jacobs in the first and Sanders in the 2nd (Henderson, Montgomery, Singletary, Harris and Mattison)

Yea, thats what happens when you have a guy part of your organization for 20+ years, and let him stay in charge for over a Decade, through some ups and downs. You actually let him build a roster how he planned to, and trends start to emerge (not like us trying to parse words, video slip ups, and one offseason of moves)

Humphry went in the second, and thats later than he should have. He was a guy that almost every fanbase on here wanted at the time. And most importantly, he was Murray's college Center, again Kyler wasnt digging up a gem here.

If I was Bijan I would be politely offering to move to PHI early, it would be such a good landing spot.  BUT, I tried the Atheltics Football show yesterday (it's excellent!) and they pointed out that not only has the current GM not drafted an RB since 2010 in teh first round they've literally never drafted anyhting but QB, WR, OL and DL in round one which is a very interesting statistic and as far as "rules" go, one I would be happy to have our Bears live by as well.

If there was ever a perfect situation for him, and a time to break a "rule", Bijan to PHI would be it.

I'm kind of in the same boat philosophically for drafting. Trenches on both sides offer up 9 of the starting 22 spots to begin with and protect the most important player on the team though anyway, so it is damn foolish not to invest in OL IMO.

But I kind of go in tiers-

S - QB

A - EDGE/OT/CB

B - Playmakers/ballhhawks/interior passrushers

C - Grunts (ILB/NT/blocking TEs/limited IOL/

D - FB and specialists, purely two down/depth players

That being said I would take an OG in the first or a bad*** ILB like Edmunds or Smith, but if I grade them similarly to an EDGE I'm likely looking at the positional value.

Sanders was in the Barkley draft. Montgomery was the second back taken behind Jacobs.

I promise Im not trying to be a jerk here, but you've got your drafts mixed up.

Barkley was 2018, Jacobs was 2019 with Sanders, Henderson, Montgomery, Singletary in that order.

Not being a jerk at all. I stand corrected. Good catch.
