Week 8 Football Talk

CBS is the NFL's oldest TV partner and recently they've brought on sister network Nickelodeon to partake in NFL coverage, both through simulcasts of select national CBS games and through a weekly kids-oriented highlight show called NFL Slimetime.

Paramount Global, the parent company of both networks, should acquire a minority stake in NFL Media which includes NFL Films and NFL Network.

This would result in NFL Films content being distributed on DVD and Blu-ray by Paramount Home Entertainment as well as being added to Paramount+ (which would be very important if NFL Films wants to produce scripted content, which would likely be largely NFL-related and air on NFL Network), and CBS Sports personalities appearing on NFL Network.

Why would the NFL want to do that. They can already do all of those things themselves.

It would be a major expansion of the NFL's long-standlng relationship with CBS and its current parent company. No TV partner has been with the NFL as long as CBS has, with only four years missed since CBS first aired NFL games in 1956.

Paramount Global Content Distribution would also be responsible for distributing NFL Films content internationally.

CBS Sports would also take over co-production duties for games airing on NFL Network exclusively (except in the markets of the participating teams, where they would also be shown on a local OTA station, with CBS affiliates now having right of first refusal).

Why would they want to go with Paramount offer as opposed to Amazon, Apple, or even Disney which are bigger companies and a stronger reach outside of them being their oldest partner. Paramount has been slowly decreasing their market power over the past few years.

The Raiders didn't cross the 50 yard line until nearly the two minute warning in the 4th quarter. Made Andy's toys look like the 1985 Bears.

That offense in today's era shouldn't be that pathetic. Not against the 31st ranked defense in points.
