By the same notion that our defense got better when we hired capers and switched to a 3-4. The scheme better utilized our personnel. We clearly don’t have 3-4 personnel.

And how quickly did the defense fall apart?  You've got a DC whose scheme the players believed in and executed.  And then the longer he was in place, the worse the defense got.

do you think a scheme where he can shoot gaps with a better DL situation in front of him helps?

He’s a step late across the board. Reps will get him into position better. Hes gotten better as the season has gone along. Trying to remember Devondre Campbell’s injury is the only reason he’s getting picked on.

The only reason it'd make sense to is if they wanted to get a look at one of their internal guys.  Otherwise, it's likely going to be the same thing over and over again.

Or if they have their eye on someone currently outside the NFL. Which you’d imagine they’ve been doing homework on since about week 6.

if you are running a 4-3

Gary -- Clark -- Wyatt (Slaton) -- ???

Walker -- Campbell -- ???

No man is safe on that list.

fine, but Clark and Campbell are hefty cap hits if you cut/trade them.   so you are dumpster diving for bodies to run any scheme if you aren't rolling with some of those players

This defense isn't going to magically fix itself overnight.  We're missing our best pass rusher (Rashan Gary), our best ILB (De'Vondre Campbell), and a DC who doesn't play to his players' strengths.  Let's start with getting a new DC and a strong draft, and this defense probably looks a LOT different.

So basically do the exact same thing we've been doing? Got ya.

We still don’t know why it failed. They won a super bowl with it and it went to **** the very next year. You’re telling me that they won a super bowl, were the 2nd best defense in the league and just stopped believing in it? I don’t buy that.
