Giants to release WR Kenny Golladay

Golladay wasn't misused in NY per-say, he just needs a different style of QB. Golladay has never gotten good separation; he makes contested catches. He needs a QB that will force the ball to him regardless of whether he's "open" or not. He could go to the Rams for a year to prove he belongs in this league.

When he actually played two seasons ago he was terrible in contested situations. He was just cooked, nothing to do with Jones only throwing to guys who are schemed open.

I'm not sure that's true.

It's also pretty apparent that every other Giants receivers contested catch rate completely fell off a cliff in 2021 as well, which would also point towards scheme/QB play. He is bad at getting separation and good at contested catches, even if his 2021 wasn't close to his last year in Detroit.

There is another consideration to factor in as well. Golladay wasn't the only Giant losing those contests last season. Slayton, who had a 48.0 percent contested catch rate in his rookie year, dropped to 31.8 percent in 2020 and then to an abysmal 12.5 percent in 2021. This is yet another Giants offensive statistic that declined from Pat Shurmur's final year as Giants coach to the two years of the Joe Judge/Jason Garrett regimes.

He was honestly good in 2021. The offense was just inherently broken. In 2022, and potentially for beyond that, he was/is cooked. Can't get off the LOS, can't create any separation, and can't move quickly in general.

Lions got belittled for letting him walk when they had no receivers. Holmes then drafted Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Then used the comp pick to draft Kerby Joseph. *Fun fact* Kerby only caught two less passes than Golladay last season. 😂

Okay but wait for Jameson to make more than one catch in 6 games before bragging about him lol

The iconic Gettleman signing. Fool's gold. Struggled to earn his way on the field against guys off the scrap heap--just like Toney but way more expensive. Possibly the worst signing in Giants history. Had a great opportunity and dogged it. Bye Felicia.

Bye.
