Has there ever been a draft top 10 THIS bad?

Didnt Cooper break his leg his rookie season before it ever started? Have to wonder if that caused a problem long-term for a guy that size

I honestly don’t remember - but if this is the case, yeah. Injuries like that are hard for 320+ lb guys to recover from.

I remember that draft well.  Packer fan here.  I thought GB did really well in that draft.

Datone Jones, yucky.  Eddie Lacy, great RB until he ate himself out of the league.  Bakhtiari, franchise LT.  JC Tretter, only played a little for us due to injuries, but he was a very good player.  Jonathan Franklin, RB who flashed big time as a rook, then got injured and career was done.  Micah Hyde, decent nickle cover guy for us, great safety for the Bills.  Boyd and Palmer did nothing.  Charles Johnson had a good season and a half or so at WR.  Dorsey and Barrington didn't do anything.

But to come out of that draft with guys like Lacy, Bakh, Tretter and Hyde?  GB did well.

Datone Jones was the fakest tough guy ever.  All the potential in the world, hated physicality.

Ravens didn't have a first round pick that year. I've completely removed that first round from my memory.

In fact, that entire draft class was pretty hilarious:

Rnd Player Pick Pos Yrs From To AP1 PB St wAV G Cmp Att Yds TD Int Att Yds TD Rec Yds TD College/Univ
1 Matt Elam 32 DB 3 2013 2016 0 0 2 12 41       0       0     0 Florida
2 Arthur Brown 56 LB 4 2013 2016 0 0 0 3 48       0       0     0 Kansas St.
3 Brandon Williams 94 DT 10 2013 2022 0 1 8 51 128       0       0     0 Missouri Southern
4 John Simon 129 DE 9 2013 2021 0 0 4 34 100       0       0     0 Ohio St.

7 Marc Anthony 247 DB       0 0 0                           California

We hit on 2 picks (Williams and Juice), got like 1 solid year from another 2 picks (Wagner and Jensen) and the rest were COMPLETE busts.

When has a drafting box safety like Matt Elam in the first round ever worked out? Jamal Adams? Anyone else?

Also, Arthur Brown was everybody's draft crush that year. Tough to see those guys not work out.

A 5'10 box safety, at that lol

All the red flags were there on his college tape, too. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. What a no-good terrible draft year.

@showtime why did Curry bust?

He was slow (i can't tell you what his 40 time was but I mean on-field speed) and also not very quick

I watched him quite a bit because lots of Detroit fans clamored for the team to take him #1 overall, over Stafford. For some reason there was a fairly large anti- Stafford sentiment at the time, lots of people even wanted Sanchez over him

Anyway I remember turning on highlights of him, or maybe it was a Wake Forest game, I was thinking OK let's check this guy out, this is a OLB who's being touted as a potential #1 pick, he better look like LT or something. Then I was like, that's it?! He looked slow and sluggish. I tried to find more video to get evidence he was better than that, and never found any.

I think he was an off ball LB who never really developed a pass rush routine and was able to get by on athleticism in college. Once everyone got big and fast, he was just a guy getting washed out regularly.

Maybe if he was a 3rd or 4th round pick, history will remember him differently - I don’t think he was HORRIBLE, just that he wasn’t some game wrecking presence.

Apparently he’s now a LB coach for the Steelers? Hmm. Ok. Good for him!

1986 draft is a weird one. Bo Jackson refused to sign and entered the draft again in 1987... Buccs took him #1 overall in 1986. Bo had told them he wouldn't play for them beforehand. Then Jim Everett was 2nd or 3rd overall and said no to the Oilers, who had Warren Moon, and the Oilers still took him, and traded him to the Rams. Casillas was a NT that had over 100 tackles a year for the Falcons before retiring to force his way out (he played 7 years after retiring). A couple guards (one played three years, each year started one game and each year it was at a different position G, T, DT) and a FB in the top 10 as well (he was the second or third best in the top 10 after Leslie Oneal and maybe Jim Everett).
