mdonnelly21
Lets not say all rookies, but lets say their second full NFL season... Lets say that you have a clean roster. And you can draft any of the top 55 guys, but let's make it easy and say the top 55 most talented guys in the NFL. How far do you think they get in their second full season? Record. Playoff run? SB run? Edited April 29, 2023 by mdonnelly21
Hunter2_1
Depends on the players, coaching, scheme etc. so many variables If they’re a brand new team, I say they would be “in the hunt” kind of team, but wouldn’t wow anyone. Cohesion, coaching, experience etc matters
Blue
0-16. And probably not close in most of those games.

drew39k
A team with no veteran leadership, filled filled with players that don't necessarily fit a dedicated scheme? Not to mention, a good amount of these guys end up being busts. They are also typically not physically ready for a full NFL season. Sounds like a disaster. I feel like the QB is going to get smoked by defenses that mask their blitzers since neither the QB nor the offensive line will have the exp needed to really know, identity and counter it. Defensively, you're going to see a ton of busted plays due to lack of experience as well. Again, no veterans to help build the kids up.
BetterCallSaul
You better have a great coach and schemes. If you did, I think the team would be fine.
Raves
I think a better option would be to use the first 2 rounds of two consecutive drafts. So creating a full 53 man roster, outside of kicker and punter which you can just pick any from the class, from the 2022 & 2023 Drafts. minutemancl
It takes about 3 years to fully evaluate a draft class, so let's take the 2020 class, 1st 2 rounds, and construct the best team we can with only those players. These would be all the notable players: QB: Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts RB: Jonathan Taylor, JK Dobbins, Deandre Swift WR: Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Tee Higgins, Brandon Aiyuk, Michael Pittmany, Jerry Jeudy TE: Cole Kmet OT: Andrew Thomas, Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills, Ezra Cleveland G: Robert Hunt, Austin Jackson C : Cesar Ruiz (19) EDGE: Josh Uche, Chase Young, AJ Epenesa DL: Derrick Brown, Raekwon Davis, Javon Kinlaw LB: Willie Gay, Jordyn Brooks, Patrick Queen CB: Trevon Diggs, Jaylon Johnson, AJ Terrell, Kristian Fulton, Isaiah Simmons S: Xavier Mckinney, Kyle Dugger, Antoine Winfield, Jeremy Chinn (19) So there are about 40 noteworthy players, with some really strong positions (CB is pretty good, S is stacked, you'll have a great QB [I didn't even get to include Justin Herbert], and your WRs are unbelievable). However, your defensive front is hot garbage. No pass rush, OK at best LBs. Your OL is also really strong on the bookends (Andrew Thomas on the left and Wirfs on the right would be the best best bookends in the NFL), but absolutely horrendous in the interior. You'd have to move Austin Jackson or someone else to guard. Overall, this is probably a .500 team with upside. The QB situation keeps you from being any worse. With even a slightly better OL, this is a playoff team just because of the offense, particularly the QB and the WRs.
incognito_man
It depends entirely on the draft class. You could have an 0-17 team or a 17-0 team using the rules you describe.

That lineup could potentially win the AFCS. Elsewhere, they'd probably be mauled.
LeotheLion
If we are saying 2nd year guys, we can look at last year's draft class for what that would look like: QB: Pickett RB: Breece Hall, Kenneth Walker WR: Olave, Wilson, London, Pickens, etc TE: Trey McBride LT: Charles Cross LG: Zion Johnson Center: Linderbaum RG: Strange RT: Evan Neal, Tyler Smith DE: Walker, Hutchinson, Thibs DT: Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt LB: Devin Lloyd, Quay Johnson CB: Stingley, Sauce Gardner, McDuffie, etc. S: Hamilton, Pitre, Brisker This is a pretty good team on paper. Really strong corners, good skill positions, and would think all those edge guys take a bit of a jump this year. I'd say this is a playoff team with Pickett's play being the biggest question. People discount the value of veteran leadership and coaching. Talentwise, a team of rookies and 2nd year players could look great, but in most cases, I dont think theyd perform to the level many might expect. I think AT BEST, teams like that would be fringe playoff teams who get trounced in the first round, but most would likely be picking top half of the draft.
