Still at least somewhat convinced we took Schoonmaker so the fans can chant "Schooooooooooon." Did we take Vaughan so people can post "The Deuce is loose!" to their socials? I'm not saying we did, but...

DUECEEEEEEEEE!!! This makes up for everything. Except Schoonmaker.

Would have really loved to end the 3rd round with Mazi, Torrence, Washington.  But Duece makes up for it I guess.

No, it doesn’t tbh.  Let’s just hope Schoonmaker proves us wrong.

On NFL radio XM 88 they are comparing Vaughn to Darren Sproles. Which is pretty cool but not the comp I'd make. Plus, comping him to a roleplayer makes it even more frustrating as this is a draft full of roleplayers...

But I'd compare him more to Warrick Dunn. Just seems to have a nose for avoiding a collision and evading a tackle, despite not being the top athlete overall. Just good instincts, reliable speed, reliable vision. Combine those traits and you usually have a pretty good foundation for a running back.

To build up on what I just posted -

Of Vaughns 4 biggest gains I have watched (not his biggest overall, not enough film I can find), he found a way to safely skidattle out of bounds 3 of those times, avoiding several would be tacklers and even spinning free of an arm tackle attempt TWICE on one play.

On one simple isolation gut run, the trap blocker gets caught early and engaged in the lane. Vaughn patiently halts himself, gets skinny, slips past the engagement and into the hole, then halts again to allow a lunging tackle attempt get by him: broken play nets 7 yards, only caught from behind by a pretty athletic play from a DL.

His change of direction in the open field is worthy of noting here too. He doesn't so much juke or stop/start, but smoothly transitions his direction without breaking stride. This allowed him to evade tacklers more easily in space than having a need to actually break a tackle

Last time I admired traits like these, he became a 1000 yard rusher and had a good career despite the lack of size and bulk. That career, again, was Warrick Dunn

I really like this selection.

Does Deuce return punts/kicks?

He does!

Ill just say I won’t be at all upset is TP isn’t resigned long term. We have the more explosive version of him now.

Will need to draft someone next year to be physical but Duece is going to be a fantastic addition. Fan favorite.

I would hope Dallas had no plans to sign Pollard long term as it is. I would hope the Zeke situation burned them out. Especially without seeing him come back full force from his injury - it was a pretty gruesome one. There is, sadly, a chance he doesn't come back with the same shiftiness as it is.

Was just reminiscing with my brother.

Times sure have changed since the Bill Parcells days. We once had a similar player to Vaughn with a #23 Aveion Cason. Everytime he touched the ball it was electric. But when asked why he doesn't get more opportunities, Bill said "because we don't bring caskets to the game." Noting Cason was 'too small' and 'not bulky enough' to get more than his 3 to 5 touches a game.

The NFL has changed so much

Bill also had Dave Megget who I’m sure you remember was dynamic for the Giants

No second contracts for running backs.  See Elliotts deal as you referenced.

My whole family are NYG fans and I live in Brooklyn - Megget was a family favorite around these parts for a long time. He followed Bill to both NE and NYJ.

He was more of a return specialist though, and took maybe a toss or three and a screen or two a game. But he could change the field position in a single touch any given down. That is definitely something Deuce might start his career out being. But I'd hope they work him into a larger role. His ability to just flat out make guys miss is something that could be very special
