Championshiporbust
The Shanahans' tree is the No. 1 tree in NFL right now... Fifteen of Shanahan's assistant coaches became head coaches in the NFL or NCAA: Art Shell, Los Angeles Raiders (1989–1994), Oakland Raiders (2006)[43] Karl Dorrell, UCLA (2003–2007), Colorado (2020–2022) J. D. Brookhart, Akron (2004–2009) Greg Robinson, Syracuse (2005–2008) Gary Kubiak, Houston Texans (2006–2013), Denver Broncos (2015–2016)[44] Tim Brewster, Minnesota (2007–2010) Troy Calhoun, Air Force (2007–present) Jon Embree, Colorado (2011–2012) Anthony Lynn, Buffalo Bills (2016, interim), Los Angeles Chargers (2017–2020)[45] Sean McVay, Los Angeles Rams (2017–present) Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers (2017–present) Jedd Fisch, UCLA (2017, interim), Arizona (2021–2024), Washington (2024-present) Charlie Jackson, Kentucky State (2019–2021) Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers (2019–present) Lou Spanos, UConn (2021, interim) Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins (2022–present)[46] Two of Shanahan's former players became head coaches in the NFL or NCAA: Anthony Lynn, Buffalo Bills (2016, interim), Los Angeles Chargers (2017–2020) Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech (2013–2018), Arizona Cardinals (2019–2022) Yet, after the 2 titles in 1997-1998, he couldn't win any titles with the Broncos and got fired, and went to the dumpster fire that the Redskins under Dan Snyder was........ AngusMcFife
I've made this point on this forum before, but it's really silly to consider Art Shell part of the coaching tree of Mike Shanahan. Just look at their relationship. Just because 2 coaches happened to be on the same staff at one time does not mean they are part of the same tree.

It's not that difficult, you just beat the team in front of you.
notthatbluestuff
A mere two titles - Kyle would love to win two. He'd love to win one.
MaddHatter
Same reason Dan Marino never won one, Aaron Rodgers only won one, and Peyton only won two - Winning's hard.
redsoxsuck05
Now that this thread's question has already been answered, can we talk about how much of a cheat code Shanny's ZBS schemes were? You could put literally any JAG behind that Denver line and they'd run for 1,000 yards with at least a 4.5 Y/A. Reuben Droughns, Mike Anderson, Mike Bell, Tatum Bell all owe any success they had to Shanny. Even Portis' efficiency sharply declined when he got traded to WAS. TD doesn't sniff the HOF on any other team either. I acknowledge that other backs who had absurd O-Lines like Priest Holmes, Shaun Alexander, and Jamal Lewis don't have the playoff stats... Shanny pretty much invented the RBBC idea - back then every team NEEDED "the guy" at RB to be successful. Everyone was looking for their Smith/Sanders/etc. Shanny said screw "the guy", give me "a few guys" and turned UDFA's into All-Pro's - crazy stuff.
