Confirm that Rey is in fact a Skywalker, that Ben deliberately mislead her to gain her trust and out of some resentment thus explaining her purpose and their connection and the visions with the lightsaber.

Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh, bruv they're minds are linked together; almost as one.  If Kylo was lying to Rey she would have known.  And Rian Johnson himself said Ben was telling the truth to the best of his knowledge.  He pulled the truth of Rey's parents straight from her own head.  It's where he got it from.  She even admitted it was the truth.

But don't worry, at the trilogy’s end Rey will turn out to be a Skywalker and a Solo.  After she marries Ben Solo, you know Anakin Skywalker's grandson and Princess Leia's son.  That's the reason the saber called to her because it was his, as you clearly saw him use in the movie when he thought Luke Skywalker,  you know his uncle, was attacking him.

Not necessarily.  She's clearly near Anakin as far as raw power set when it comes to the Force at this point.  We've seen her psionic abilities manifest in her communication with Kylo Ren.  She might be psychometric where she can pull memories out of objects.  That lightsaber might even be some kind of totem at this point considering the hands that have used it.

Speaking of that lightsaber, it was last seen falling toward the bottom of Cloud City on Bespin after Vader chopped Luke's hand off.  I wonder if we'll find out how Marz got hold of it.  She told Han that was a story for another time.

They didn't give answers you wanted.  They talked about:

Kylo's final push
Luke's struggles
Rey's parents and potential
Snoke's lack of control and hubris
Developed Poe and other non-Force characters

That's not the same as no answers.  And you are acting like Snoke should be Vader's equivalent when it is BEYOND CLEAR that Kylo Ren is supposed to be this trilogies Darth Vader, and we have more information about Kylo Ren and Snoke through 2 movies than we did about Darth Vader and Palpatine through ESB.  Since your whole gripe here seems to be about answers, then why are you even a fan of the OT?

Everyone knew prequels would be coming?  Are you serious?  Even if that's true...YOU KNOW ANOTHER MOVIE IS COMING!  How is that different than knowing (total bull ****) that the prequels were coming?

You really think killing Luke Skywalker was fan service?  Good lord man.  If they had made Luke destroy the First Order with a wave of his hand like YOU WANTED would have been fan service and done nothing to further his character.

I guess that's why Snoke is ruling the Galaxy after The Last Jedi then, huh?

They gave brief moments of half azz answers. The scene at the temple was not even expanded on in the movie it was just told in 3 different versions. Yes they explained Luke, awesome they did the same in the first one. The only difference being the director decided to switch it up from Abrams so instead of seeking a greater knowledge Rian decided he wanted Luke to be Grouch. Rey still doesn't have parents and I just went and saw it again to look for answers on that. And it's weird but I am becoming more convinced that either Kylo was lying or he misunderstood what he saw. I'll explain on that later. Snoke had a moment of hubris just one. He has shown unbelievable control before that. He had too in order to accomplish what he did. And that's great about Rose being developed (finally learned her name) we know more about her from that idiotic casino scene then we do either Snoke, Rey or really Ren for that matter. The only real things we know about Ren is that Leia gave him to Luke, Snoke corrupted him and Luke effed up igniting his lightsaber. There were actual details the way Rose described her upbringing, the slavery, the people who came and took her. I can't believe I didn't see that the first time. She has more of a background really then any of the new characters except for arguably Rey and Ren. And im going to watch TFA again but but as of right now, Rose I think is the most detailed character of the new Universe. BTW Finn and Poe don't really have anything explained about them either. Poe was expanded on foward but not backward like Rose.

Oh forgive me, I suppose I mispoke when I said no answers then. I figured that you would know that a piss poor answer is as good as no answer. Snoke was introduced that way. And be honest with yourself and everyone here did you actually think Snoke would die before the end of the 3rd movie? Let alone in the 2nd? No he was set up as Vader in the first one. Vader was an established bad guy. He was not a work in progress. Don't sit here and pretend otherwise, Ren despite being the main antagonist was not the main villain until the throne scene. And it remains to be seen if hes a good villain.

Are you freaking kidding? IT WAS A NEW TRILOGY! Still a work in progress it was not trying to expand on a universe and lore that has 50 years of fandom with countless sources to pull info from. Things can be forgiven in that stage considering the circumstances and the prequels explained many things even if they are bad. And BTW atleast the prequels had better duels. Like really? We couldn't get a better choreographer and effects for the bodyguard fight scene?

Lmao and really seminoles? You didn't know prequels would be coming? I figured that out when I was 6 and saw ANH in 91, 24 years after it came out. You do know they were named Episodes 4, 5, and 6 for a reason right? Lucas was going to make them immediately after ROTJ but got into a divorce or something and lost his interest. But let those numbers sink in. 4, 5, 6 what numbers come before that?

Further Luke's character in what way? Because it was a exit scene they didn't do anything further with his character. If he was returning for the last movie I would ok with a force projection and I was ok with that scene until I saw him fade away. That was total BS. We got the Luke Skywalker legend for nearly half a century and how he was the greatest Jedi of all-time. And that's all the fan service we got? Don't throw that BS here. That was fan service as I explained before there were so many other different ways he could have helped out the resistance and got them out of there in a more subtle way. But the director wanted to give him a send off but it sucked plain and simple. That was a bottle rocket fanfare send off where it could have been an Olympic Light Show. He didn't have to crush every ship in the FO but at least decimating those walkers and the shuttle just to show Ren he could have finished him any time he wanted but did not out of love would have been ending it on his own terms too. It was a cliche ending where the mighty was carefully passing the torch to the new generation. And we still haven't gotten any powerful displays of the force in the Star Wars universe. OT was understandable, we got lightsaber duels in the prequels. In this one we should have got to see just how powerful the greatest Jedi of all-time was. I know that doesn't bother you, but if you can make time for that dreadnought battle scene, the escape from the casino, the massive battle on the planet with Tie Fighters, and egg cracking super canon, super sized at-at's, a battle royale with a bunch of Redcoats. We have gotten action sequence after action sequence. But that piss poor scene was the best he wanted to do for not only the most powerful character ever in the series but the most important one? If that's what you like then fine, but I call BS. I've seen your DBZ avatars. And I doubt you would have stayed a fan if all it ever did was talk about was Goku being able to go Super Saiyan but never doing it. Never showing the power ups, the next level of what those characters could be. We never got to see it with Luke. He went out with a parlor trick. Again It's BS.

Luke went to the planet to die in his own words. Snoke broke him. He might not have truly known that, but he did. It was only because of a OP novice Jedi that he decided to become involved again but he was done. Leia lost her marriage to the man she loved. Han got himself killed by his own son. Yea he beat them all. Don't try to sugarcoat that sh!t. Leia is the only one you could actually make an argument that was not fully broken because she was still fighting on, or more so fighting to get her son back. But all 3 essentially went back to the exact same lives as to where they started when the whole Star Wars saga began. That's broken bud. Sure people can be put back together. But Snoke at the point of TFA had beaten them.

Read the part in bold again. To answer the last line in your reply. He had no intention of helping the resistance until he was dragged back in.

So what you’re saying is you’d rather have the execs mettle to the point if strangling creativity to establish unbreakable continuity for an IP does doesn’t have a great deal of continuity to begin with, what with all the EU and everything else? I’ll opt for the better story telling. Perhaps there’s more of a happy medium, a balance if you will. But I don’t think most of what anybody is griping about in that regard is actually much of an issue.

You're talking about extremes, if they stuck to the balance like they preached in this movie. Yea they could have found a silver lining where the directors have a guidline and room for creativity. Not this story that's waiting until the last movie to explain everything, if they even do. I know that part doesn't bother some considering we didn't get any explanation on major villains and that's fine with them, maybe they'll just choose to leave everything up to the imagination and not explain anything.

Going to hav to sleep on this one but my immediate reaction is that I was definitely more excited walking out of the theater for Rogue One (and to a lesser extent VII) than this one.

Also I didn't pay attention to any of the interviews or new clips pre-release but I was very confused about leia not dying

Rey didn’t really have much influence on him though. Ren took out Snoke purely as an ambition thing. Literally the same reason every Sith apprentice has killed their master throughout history.

Why shouldn’t Luke be able to toy with Ren? Isn’t he a master and Ren still training?

Yea she does, not enough to sway him. But you could tell when he decided to kill Snoke, Rey was the cause of that. Just not having the outcome she hoped.

He can Toy with Ren but I just felt like we didn't get much character progression from Ren. He's good, he's bad, he's angry who knows. Besides the snoke killing scene I thought Rens character was stronger in the last one. Maybe it was the music, the silence I just don't know.

And than Rey said she could see Rens future and he is good.  What was that about.

The way snoke died was very stupid for a guy that can read minds and get killed off like that was just bad development.

They set it up that way, and yet again it's a contradiction. Because Rey is able to match him. Both Luke and Snoke have implied he as strong as it gets in the force. Rey even said if he can be turned the whole war would go there way with the balance tipped because he is just that powerful. And yet there have been no displays of this power. No grand schemes, or powers or anything. I don't even think they taught Adam Driver how to fight with a sword. It was all just disappointing and obvious the only scenes they gave the most attention to was the beginning scene and the casino.

You don’t know that.  Anakin showed incredible potential as a child when he was a nobody. Midiclorian count off the charts.  How is it so unbelievable that there couldn't be another like that?  With so much raw power it surprised Kylo and over powered him?  I remember in HS there was this guy around the way that was a black belt and was such a badass. Nobody messed with him until one day he fought the local drug kingpin around our way.  The black belt dude got beat down so bad it was hard to watch.  So here’s a guy with so much training getting whipped by someone with no formal training. Raw power unleashed.  Dude was not ready for it and got worked.

Snoke embarrased Ren publicly on board the ship and then again in his chambers and questioned his place at his side.  Then he mentioned Rey’s potential.  I don’t remember the dialogue but he implied Ren could be replaced before he commanded him to kill her.  A test.

You're still missing the point. We did see the power of Luke Skywalker!  On a level NEVER before seen by any Jedi or Sith.  Fan service would’ve been him flying in on his X-Wing (we all waited for it after seeing it parked in the cove) and getting out and fighting everybody with his lightsaber.  That would’ve been so played out.  Instead, this man defeated the First Order without even stepping foot on the planet.  And allowed the Resistance, and his sister, to escape to fight another day.  A display of power so incredible it will forever resonate thru the galaxy.

Anakin didn't have a father. Remember that? Only guy I've heard being birthed by a virgin is the savior and God of a religion. Lucas from the start intended Anakin to have a special beginning to explain him. Anakin was a slave but he sure as hell wasn't a nobody. Im not gonna bother with Rey and that discussion because I just saw the movie a 2nd time and I am more convinced then ever they were misdirecting. So me arguing her parentage would be pointless. But Ren already knew what he was dealing with when she escaped from the ship. He even told the storm troopers to be very careful and search quickly.

He only ever said how disgraceful it was he was beaten by a novice and that he was expendable. Nothing about Rey.

He didn't defeat the FO, he stalled with a parlor trick. That was nothing special. Snoke topped that with connecting Rey and Ren's minds. Just 30 minutes before. They tried to make it special for the audience. But yea, it still sucked. He didn't have to use his lightsaber. He was Luke Skywalker. Him crushing all those AT-AT's and Super size AT's just to humiliate the FO would have had a greater theatrical effect. I mean everyone talked about how amazing that dreadnought scene was. You don't think it would have been great to see Luke unleash some hell before giving Ren a wink then disappearing.

This shocked me as well. They killed off Luke but not Leia? They should have kept Luke around for the 3rd one.

Which is why I am think he misinterpreted what he saw. Rey said her parents left her on Jaku. Have we actually gotten confirmation that the people who left her were her parents?

If you take his word for it. It's not like they were powerful enough to figure it out themselves and desperately needed the help of a manipulative evil (did he ever claim Sith?) leader who serves the dark side of the force.  He wouldn't want to undermine them or their growing confidence in themselves.

And if Snoke actually was the telepathic bridge, that's still nowhere near as impressive as what Luke did.

The biggest problem with this right now is the same thing that plagued Justice league, to an extent.  having two people trying to tell one story.  In JL, you had Whedon taking over for Snyder more than half way through and trying to cram his vision into what Snyder created already, and do it in under two hours.  in this, you clearly have two directors with different visions.  Abrams clearly sets things up for ep 8, yet Johnson goes a different way.  Now Abrams gets IX?  They should have let Abrams direct/oversee all three so there is continuity.  then Johnson have X-XII.  Nearly all the small gripes in the last 25 pages could be avoided this way.

I think Johnson said that given how late (into production) Carrie Fisher passed away, they made a decision not to do any reshoots. They wanted to leave her scenes in almost as a tribute.

Yeah, pretty much all the filming was done, and definitely her scenes. In retrospect, her taking Holdo’s place would have been a really cool sendoff, I think. But it wouldn’t have worked out.

It would have been the ultimate Leia moment. I wish they would have done it. Unfortunately the one thing they started with on this new trilogy was that each of the Original 3 get their "own movie" and that also seems to be hindering the story telling.

Having Luke & Leia be the two that sacrifice themselves in the same movie in order for the Resistance to live on, that would have been poetic
