Packers Signing RB Josh Jacobs

Recommended Posts

It really comes down to whether you believe the Jacobs GB is getting will be closer to the 2022 version or 2023.  If it's the 2022 version, GB will have no regrets.  If it's the 2023 version, at least getting out of the deal won't be a cap killer.  It seems like a reasonable risk, but I wouldn't call it a slam dunk win for GB either.  Losing Jones does hurt.

I mean, I'm not surprised.  He's coming off a down year, and he's the 6th highest paid RB.

The experts will look at the short-sightedness of this and will have a negative opinion.

As much as I hate losing AJ, two to three years down the road we may look back and realize how smart of a move Gutey made here.

Unless AJ continually gave GB a discount, 2024 was likely to be Aaron Jone's last year in town anyways.

I think MLF's schemes and a having QB not named Jimmy G (or whomever else they had taking snaps back there...) will help Jacob's productivity.

Also, he won't be holding out until a few days before the season opener.

Paying a 26 year old RB who averaged  3.5 yards a carry 12 million a year makes me want to throw up. Just lighting money on fire.

I knew you would not disappoint.

I just don't like the player at all.  I think he's Dillon with a little more wiggle.

Dillon has never even been in the same stratosphere as Jacobs.

Did you even watch him last year? He was a shell of himself in an extremely run heavy offense. The McKinney signing was an overpay but atleast he has upside.

If Jacobs gets that back up to say 4.2 YPC next year you should agree to delete your account. Deal?

You have the answer to your perplexity right in there.

I'm willing to accept the notion that the massive downgrade at QB in Las Vegas last year is responsible for Jacobs bad year. He won't have that issue in Green Bay

What a high bar.

That would be a significant improvement from the 3.5 you seem to think he has become now. What number would you agree to?
