  1. A month of camp injuries waiting, injuries always relieve roster pressure.  A handful of guys who'd be exposed, were cut-downs today, will make it then.
  2. Curious how kickoff rules will impact preferred body types, and bubble-WR?  No clue.  Any thoughts on that?
  3. Rich B has had Toure for a few years; will that give him edge?  But both Heath and DuBose seem more classically ST-physiqued...
  4. Heath played effectively last year, but has personality-issues history.  Might DuBose seem less complex, safer to stay clean and out of trouble, and a classroom guy coaches find easier to work with?
  5. PS is large.  Other teams have fun bubble guys too, all with at least a camp of playbook training; many with PS experience.  How likely would they claim our cuts with no camp-time to train, over internal options who know their system?

Only here could I possibly interject and not have to pick broken beer bottle bits out of my bloody teeth;

2. There will be a better emphasis on strength, but not by too much. You'll still see cornerbacks and the like on the line because frankly, engaging in a ten yard space is still demanding from a mobile perspective, hence, you'll likely never see anyone really above 250 pounds unless he's a freakish sort of athlete buried in the depth chart. As for WR, the key will probably be the same as it always was; arm length. Whether engaging as a blocker or shedding blocks, that extra leverage of reach will probably mean all the difference for a WR on the fringe.
3. Right now, Toure's best advantage is he's a depth player as a returner but buried enough on the chart to be constantly useful. The only other main guys who are returner material behind Nixon are Reed- who as a slot receiver is only selectively available- and Watson- who has much more speed than polish but is just like Reed as a only selectively available guy. Toure has just about never been used on ST outside of returning kicks and punts, and will lose ground to any taller and longer-limbed competitor if a blocker is needed on those units. It's possible he could be a gunner on punts in theory.
4. I wouldn't think the intangibles between Heath and DuBose are wide enough of a gap to make a difference, at least not when it comes to a spot on the 53. Grant has two key factors that'll truly determine a possible promotion; how electric he's really showing during camp/preseason as a pass catcher, and whether he can take to ST work. He's showing pretty good on 1 so far, but 2 has yet to be determined.
5. At the beginning of the season, very unlikely. It would probably be limited to players on the just-barely-losing edge of a rich position battle, or a case of "we couldn't find anyone for a specific role", which might still happen for us at the H-Back role. The odds of losing a guy to another team of course increase as the season progresses and human sacrific- I mean injuries mount. I don't think our development program is so powerfully rated that players who can't showcase said development on the field in games that count would be a priority target.

MarShawn Lloyd makes his presence felt with an explosive run for about 50. Ballentine would have had a chance at him after a cut back but either way an impressive play for the rookie.

Karl Brooks has been heating up as of late. A would be sack of Clifford in team. Brenton Cox pressuring as well.

Love to Watson in stride over the middle. Ballentine in coverage.

Clifford is either super short for DuBose or super high for Melton. Either way it’s incomplete. Defender had the best chance.

Eric Wilson the wily vet with another play in the backfield. This time on Lloyd.

Clifford nice little bootleg to Melton.

Carlson goes 1/3 kicking. He’s now 22/27 in camp.

Joseph goes 3/3. He’s now 25/27 in camp.

Joseph widens his lead somewhat significantly.

Love with an absolutely unreal seal throw to Watson in cover 2. Just beyond the reach of Quay and before the two safeties. Couldn’t have handed it to him better 30ish yards downfield. Best throw of camp so far.

MarShawn Lloyd with a nice little catch over the middle. He moves so damn easy. Such a fun player to watch.

LVN is stacking success! Another sack this time of Love. He’s had a really nice week of practice.

McDuffie and Van Ness all over a Lloyd run.

Zayne Anderson all over a quick out to Reed. It’s completed for a few but Anderson right there for the stop.

Enagbare bursts through for a tfl on Dillon.

Devonte Wyatt goes right through Sean Rhyan for a big time pressure. Love stays strong in the pocket and delivers a strike over the middle to Wicks.

Marques Eversoll
@MarquesEversoll

Love hits Wicks with a laser over the middle, just past a diving McDuffie. (1st Down? Apparently not)

Love to Wicks again on a slant. This time, the chains move.

End of drive.

No. 1 move-the-ball —

Reed jet sweep loses a yard.

Handoff to Dillon for 4.

Checkdown to Dillon moves chains.

Love pressured, “tackled” by Wooden near LOS.

McDuffie & LVN stuff Lloyd on a run to the left. Short gain.

Love quick out to Reed. 1st Down.

JJ stuffs Dillon.

Another miss for Anders Carlson, pulling a 49M wide left. He’s 3-6 today. All 3 misses wide left.

Greg Joseph is 6-6 today.

Joseph is now 28-30 in camp. Carlson is 24-30 in camp.

Family Night will be big.

Dontayvion Wicks Show is back.

Beautiful over the shoulder grab from Love in two minute to defense 15. Good for 27. Also had first catch of drive for 13

It's almost assuredly a pressure package look.

Think they just need bodies with the guys sitting out.

Just don't think having him add weight improves his chance of making the roster/finding PT.

Hard to see how they keep Carlson around barring a massive collapse by Joseph.

This is a historic group

We're gonna be spoiled. Soak it up.

My how the outlook changes over 12 months, eh?

Just crazy to think about our nothing but potential WR corp last year at this time to talking about a possible "historic" group.  And I agree with that.  It is just crazy how talented and self-less those WR's are.
