For reference, the timeframe for complete meniscus repair is Irv Smith from 2021; suffered the injury September 1st, had complete repair surgery, and missed the entire season.  The timeframe for meniscus trimming is Nuk Hopkins' current knee injury from August 1st where he's projected to miss 4-6 weeks, and is presently "hopeful" for the start of the season after meniscus trimming surgery.

I’ve had the meniscus trimmed/cut out multiple times. I wish they could have repaired it even if it meant doubling my recovery time.

The term, and idea of, "meniscus trimming" gives me the chills.

Take the long term recovery process, let Darnold go to the wolves and come back fully health next season.

Maybe Darnold resurrects his career and is a solid trade asset, maybe you tank and get a great pick to build around McCarthy. Don't risk his long term health for a rushed and potential re-injury his rookie season.
