Cowherd just mentioned maybe the NFL should consider an Amnesty Clause type option, each team gets 1 every five to ten years for situations like this. Basically, NFL doesn’t let Tua play again, pays him his money, and doesn’t go against the team cap

Not sure how realistic something like this would be but I’ll let those of you who are much smarter than me chime in. I do think the NFL does need to get creative with this situation and be open to all options

The NBA does this every time they have a new CBA I believe, I like it.

Worth mentioning here, but my belief was that there’s no way Tua walks away from football/$120M+ on the table. However apparently he was already considering walking at the end of the 2022 season, and even his mom came to him and was asking him to retire.

It’d still shock me if Tua went that route, but it kinda puts things in a different light IMO.

It might sound incredibly heartless, but it’s total BS to bail teams out of bad cap management with the contracts they’re giving out, all because of injuries forcing someone out. It’s the risk of the business.

Obviously that hasn’t happened (yet), but it being on the table should be a slap in the face.

just wait till you get a load of the deshaun watson thread in NFL news

Absolutely not.  Dolphins got into this mess, they can get themselves out of it.

Drafting Quinn Ewers, Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders are not bad options at all.  And if Tua is indeed out a lot this season they will be losing more games no question which gives them a chance to get those guys, especially Ewers or Sanders.

Tua clearly has to do what is best for his health long term whatever that ends up being.  His physical reaction to that hit, which was not awful compared to other hits in the NFL, was not good what so ever.
