Kinda crazy how we're tied for 5th in sacks when our starting pass rushers have a single sack between them.

Since the season's so young, this is base line data - but - I typed it wrong (and have corrected it).

We're tied for 8th in the league (with five other teams) - not 5th overall.

Defenders Making Business Decisions

https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2018/09/21/packers-kentrell-brice-highlights-perils-of-playing-safety-in-todays-nfl/

"But what all goes into that decision-making process, especially for a player like Brice? Turns out, a whole lot. And it’s more than just football.

To hear Packers passing game coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. tell it is to understand how difficult it is to play safety in today’s NFL.

“I think, if you watch NFL football today, and if you’re in KB’s position, if he goes and separates the receiver from the ball, what’s probably going to happen? Probably going to be a fine. He’s already been fined one time. I think that’s flashing through a lot of DB’s minds.”

“It’s difficult, when a guy’s lowering his body, going for the ball, he’s trying to make a football play,” Whitt explained. “For you to make a football play and you know you’re going to lose a lot of money and get a penalty at the same time if you complete that play. That’s just the reality of today’s football.”

The financial side of the equation is telling.  Take Brice, for example. His contract pays out a base salary of $630,000. Split out over the course of a full season, and Brice receives a game check of about $40,000, pre-tax.

Now, look at the fine table for penalties violating player safety rules. Even for first offenses, the fines range from $10,026 to as much as $26,739.

You can bet a player like Brice knows the financial implications of committing a player safety penalty. Would you ever risk over half your weekly salary?

Safeties are making business decisions every play."

Damn shame, what THEY are doing to the game

A few of the sacks on Trubisky weren't really "sacks" IIFC. Basically him scrambling for 0 or 1 yard loss. I'm still a believer that Matthews, Perry and Wilkerson are going to turn it on, but I hope it's sooner rather than later.

To what point?

Please also note that Nelson's new team hasn't won a game yet.
