We were sitting at about the 30-yard line and it happened right in front of us. Gale Gillingham was leading Brockington downfield. When Brockington hit Dyer with his knee, he collapsed and didn't move. Scary **** for a young kid to see. John Brockington was one of my all-time Packer favorites. RIP! Yes, he was a good one. But 74 is way too young! 😟
NFLGURU
Dyer passed away at age 63 in 2010. A doctor looked at an XRay of his neck many years after the incident and told him with that injury impact, he could have died that day, but they got him stabilized fairly quickly. I know Brockington battled kidney disease for many many years. I think he had a transplant several years ago. Not sure if that contributed to his death. He was definitely "the franchise" when he was in Green Bay. RIP JB. Edited April 2, 2023 by NFLGURU

Newman was a 24 year old rookie so he's 26, big difference between the two as far as upside goes. Rhyan has a legitimate chance to be an NFL offensive lineman. Also, Tom's best position might be center, long-term. Especially if we want to move on from Myer who has been a disappointment. 1 hour ago, Old Guy said: Rhyan is only 22 years old. Didn’t Ryhan get suspended for PEDs too, set him back a bunch.

At this point, if Rhyan makes the 53 man roster out of camp I'd consider that a success. This feels like Amari Rodgers all over again, and not in a good way. Right now the real 'Amari' on this roster is Hanson, who's already got a week 1 debacle in the style of Allen Barbre on his resume. Now he just needs an inexplicable promotion to starting Center to cement the comparison.

Hansons started out of necessity, not by design.

I thought we were going by 'AAAA' standards rather than Draft Position. Rhyan's so far just been a no-show.

The only reason Amari Rodgers lasted as long as he did was because he was a former 3rd round pick. Players drafted earlier are always going to get longer leashes than those drafted late in the draft.
