Reed was on par or better than Doubs in 2023

The numbers might suggest Reed = Doubs but Reed numbers were based was getting alot of looks in slot routes, jet sweeps and in bunch formations which LaFleur employs alot of. He wasn't doing as much traditional WR stuff that Doubs was doing. Reed might have been doing the flashy stuff but Doubs was making the offence tick over.

Doubs does the standard WR stuff really well but he hasn't been given many opportunities to do things that leads to a big play such as deep balls and being used in motion. He's doing alot of routes that lead to catches in front of defenders which lowers his YAC but not many routes that lead to catches behind the defender for better YAC and TD opportunities. Those routes are usually given to Watson, sometimes Reed, sometimes Melton because of their speed.

There's also the issue in 11 personnel that we often employ formations where a shifty WR receives a pass behind the line of scrimmage whilst the WRs in front of him does the blocking. Doubs in this scenario would be blocking whilst Reed rack up the stats. To be fair to Doubs our offence does alot of behind the scrimmage throws, and 5-10 yard throws both of which Reed benefits from. In 12 personnel we often run the ball which again sees Doubs do more blocking.

i'm sure he would like to see more productive routes come his way instead of slogging it out on standard routes to open up space for other WRs and blocking.

Doubs is probably frustrated he is not being relied on to do more playmaking stuff and seeing the playmaking opportunities in the past few games go to his teammates in situational moments.

I'll never get the fans who are so high on Doubs.  He is a fine player, but there's nothing special about him.  Reed is special.  Watson has the tools to be special, but I'm not sure he'll ever put them together.  Doubs can play in this league, but he's never going to be someone teams build around.  Now that this side of Doubs has come to light, Gute's decision on which WR's to extend will be that much easier. Doubs won't be one of them.

Doubs is stylistically very similar to Davante Adams. There's no reason why he cannot become a special player.

We disagree on how talented of a player Doubs actually is, it's fine.  To me, Doubs is someone who can be replaced fairly easily.

I think this news dropped at the worst time because it allows all the click bait and speculation to run rampant. Lets see where we are with Doubbs in a week from now. Then I feel like trade talk, benching him, yadda yadda yadda will make more sense.

Think people really underestimate how valuable Watson is to this offense. His speed creates opportunities for others. On that first drive he literally took 3 defenders with him allowing Love to hit Reed with that deep throw in the middle.

If you notice we moved the ball a lot better with Watson in the lineup because the Vikings had to honor his speed. Once he was out it was harder to move the ball because MN wasn't worried about getting beat deep. Think we dodged a huge bullet with his injury.

At this point, there's nothing to be done but see how Doubs responds going forward. I doubt MLF has much use for a WR doesn't believe in their role, and Doubs obviously doesn't.

We're four weeks into Doubs third season, and by all accounts it appears he's skipping practice and team meetings because he's mad about his role.  We're talking about a mid RD4 pick who's logged two decent seasons in the league.  Watson was drafted in the same class as Doubs, but ~100 picks earlier.  Watson has zero issues blocking his *** off, and Doubs is pulling this nonsense?  There is no way in the world Gute is giving Doubs a second contract.
