Brat&Beer
Quote Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo #49ers WR Jalen Hurd is undergoing an MRI this morning after suffering what’s believed to be a major knee injury in practice yesterday, sources tell me and @RapSheet. The fear is the test will reveal a torn ACL. Test will tell full story. Also missed 2019 with injury, Quote Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Gerald McCoy suffered an apparent injury to his right knee during the first padded practice of training camp on Monday. McCoy was hurt during individual drills and was unable to put weight on his leg after he was examined by the team's medical staff. Before ducking into the locker room, McCoy attempted to take some steps unassisted but could not. The Cowboys signed McCoy to a three-year, $18 million deal in free agency as part of a rebuild of their defensive line that also included the additions of Aldon Smith, Dontari Poe and Everson Griffen, who has yet to practice but has cleared COVID-19 testing protocol. MacReady
The Cowboys have released McCoy. Let’s sign McCoy, give him Lancaster’s quadriceps.
Brat&Beer
Washington coach Ron Rivers diagnosed with cancer. Quote Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, the team confirmed in a statement on Thursday night. Prior to the statement, Rivera's cancer diagnosis was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team says the cancer is in a lymph node and was detected from a self-care check. The team also says that the cancer is in an early stage and is considered "very treatable and curable, providing a good prognosis for Coach Rivera for a full recovery." "For now, Coach has asked that the team keep things business as usual and remain focused, but a 'Plan B' is in place if it is determined that he should take some time off," the team statement says. Leader
PFT - COVID-19 testing isn’t perfect, and today the NFL is faced with the question of what to do if a sudden, sharp increase in positive tests seems more likely to be the result of a lab error than an actual outbreak. The league reported today that one lab it uses reported many positive tests, while all the other labs the league uses reported no positive tests. “Saturday’s daily COVID testing returned several positive tests from each of the clubs serviced by the same laboratory in New Jersey,” the league said in a statement. “We are working with our testing partner, BioReference, to investigate these results, while the clubs work to confirm or rule out the positive tests. clubs are taking immediate precautionary measures as outlined in the NFL-NFLPA’s health and safety protocols to include contact tracing, isolation of individuals and temporarily adjusting the schedule, where appropriate. The other laboratories used for NFL testing have not had similar results.”
packfanfb
Dallas is about to be the litmus test for whether COVID/no offseason has affected teams. Brand new coach and coaching staff and they've loaded up on new players: Lamb, Griffen, Dix, Smith, Poe, and now they are probably going to sign Earl Thomas once he gets released. This is either going make Dallas a contender or they'll win like 8 games.
Brat&Beer
Quote @AdamSchefter · 16m Ravens are moving on from Pro Bowl S Earl Thomas today, sources tell ESPN. They either will release him for conduct detrimental to the team - punching S Chuck Clark - or trade him. Dallas is the leading contender if he’s released, per sources. But his time in Baltimore is over. So, do I need to downgrade Baltimore DST in fantasy football?

But I don't think former Packer 1st round pick Clinton-Dix will be in the mix much, even if the Cowboys don't land Earl Thomas. @GehlkenNFL Cowboys signed Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in March to be their starting safety. Based on camp so far, that won’t be the case. Darian Thompson more impressive so far. This competition will continue to unfold. Clinton-Dix signed a one-year contract with $2.25M fully guaranteed. 8:09 AM · Aug 23, 2020
Leader
As for Earl Thomas..... Stay in the AFC. Make a second rung team stronger.

I'd pretty much guarantee its either going to be Dallas or SF. Could easily see Lynch being all over this.
thrILL!
I'm glad we signed Amos and drafted Savage instead of going after Earl.

Cowboys are going to be a litmus test, but not for Covid, but a litmus test for whom has their attention, Mike McCarthy or Jerry Jones. If Mike McCarthy has their attention, they'll suddenly play up to a majority of their potential.... If Jerry Jones has their attention, they'll once again have playoff level talent, and either just barely make it or miss it completely... how they didn't make the playoffs in 2019 with all the other NFC East teams either extremely injured or dysfunctional was just inexcusable. Also the players at times seemed to give half-assed effort at best... including after the failed three first drives, their offense gave up for the rest of the 1st half against the Packers. The idea is good, but where is Thomas head at? Sounds like he might not of been with football... Also sign Thomas at what price? And where is his head at? After giving the middle finger to Pete Carroll (can't blame him there too much, just the timing might of been wrong), but having his wife holding a loaded gun one foot from his head after catching him and his brother having sex with a woman... not always showing up for meetings, punching a teammate. Still, he's probably one of the best in the game, but how much do you want to risk on him, going into a year in which the cap is expected to go down, and you probably don't have as much to resign guys you already have, like Aaron Jones and Kevin King. Chiefs reported were going to sign him to a one year deal until Ravens came in with that good multi-year deal, wonder if he's regretting that one right now. It'll be interesting to see who and how many people claim Thomas.
