Cleveland Guardians Thread: CHEAP OWNERSHIP = No Hitting

As long as the Dolans own the club, they'll change the name to the Cleveland Skinflints.

They will retire "Slider", and replace him with a new character, "Mickey the Miser."  Mickey will be known for stealing kids' popcorn, and running back to the nearest concession stand, dumping it back into the popper to be resold.

If anyone’s breaking point as a fan is a name change and not the complete lack of interest in winning this ownership group has shown over the last couple decades... idk man.

My breaking point has been this off-season altogether, which started with this interview:

Then throw in this:

And you have a guy who is clearly setting himself up for major profit wins, crapping in the face of this fanbase altogether, making zero concerted effort to win/put together a capable roster, a guy who dumped Brad Hand instead of picking up a $1 million roster bonus when he could have traded him for a decent return...the list goes on.

I barely survived the purge circa 2000-2003 with Thome, Manny, Omar, and company, but this is probably going to ice it for me.

And considering he's setting himself up to be the "hero" of the story in the mainstream media and doing it to make millions in merchandise, rebranding, etc. and purely for those reasons, while setting this city/fanbase up to be the villains...pardon me if I don't see through this blatantly transparent façade.

Is this the 5th or 6th time you’ve said that this year? Lol

I barely survived letting go of back to back cy young winner. At least we have a really good front office aside from the ownership. They’ve proven they can rebuild on the fly and find elite talent.

I love our FO and scouting department. That said, I'm considering this as a toxic relationship and I need a break. When they're competitive again and ready to make another run, I'll inevitably get suckered back into following them. Until then, my own personal boycott has started. No money is being spent on this owner/organization. He won't line his pockets off of me. No tickets, no merchandise, no extra money to make sure I watch them on television, etc.
