JDBrocks
I actually think Cleveland was a better run blocker. Risner has certainly helped with the culture/vibes aspect of the team, though. Risner is a very good pass blocker, average-ish run blocker - basically what he was in Denver.
wcblack34
Cleveland may have been a better run blocker, but I don't think I'm wrong in saying that the O-Line has been playing better as a unit with Risner on the field. At least from the eye-test level. Of course, that's coincided with Ingram learning not to tackle the Quarterback.
VikeManDan
O'Neill #1 in OT for Pass Block Win Rate (PBWR) and Risner #4 in iOL PBWR. I'm a little surprised that CD71 isn't on the list. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38356170/2023-nfl-pass-rush-run-stop-blocking-win-rate-rankings-top-players-teams Edited December 12, 2023 by VikeManDan
VikeManDan
Also saw that Cleveland got the start(?) at LT for the Jaguars but left the game due to injury.
swede700
It's good to be above the line, but you probably also want to your OTs to be on the right side above the line. Both CD and O'Neill are above the line.

On Tuesday, the Vikings released wide receiver Daylen Baldwin and used that spot to re-sign offensive lineman Henry Byrd to the practice squad. The Vikings had initially signed Byrd to the practice squad after final cuts when he was waived by the Denver Broncos. He was on the practice squad until November fourth when he was waived in a fleury of roster moves. The Vikings brought him back to the practice squad after trimming down from five to four wide receivers. They are also a little thin on the offensive line due to the injuries suffered by Brian O’Neill, Ed Ingram and Dalton Risner. Byrd likely won’t be elevated at all, but his presence will help the team in practice. https://vikingswire.usatoday.com/2023/12/13/vikings-sign-ol-henry-byrd-practcie-squad/?utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR0JRwQ5QyY0avn0zUr64dxCIjSL80p5E4UkY2wQKJXU7V1UxKOUtAYHAdE
vike daddy
O’Connell thinks Ed Ingram could soon return. The starting right guard was questionable going into Week 14, so a return in Week 15 wouldn’t be particularly surprising. One good thing is simply that Blake Brandel played well in relief of the RG1, which is a sentiment that O’Connell shares. https://purpleptsd.com/2023/vikings/top_news/vikings-skipper-points-health/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

Brandel and Schlottman have been very serviceable.

Maybe it’s schematic if everyone is playing better. Seems we used to never have good quality OL play. Especially the backups.
wcblack34
These rankings would have looked a lot better if Kirk hadn’t been injured too.
