Is it bad that I'd rather have committed that money to Mack instead of Carr if we had to pick between the two?

Not bad at all. There's a lot of teams that make it to the bowl with QBs that aren't amazing. A big reason why that 6% QB average is so low is because of teams who have an amazing D. Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, and Joe Flacco all won this decade largely because of their low cap hit at the time.

The question is, does Carr prove he can be a Brady/Manning/Rodgers type of game changer? Time will tell.. he has the potential!

Interesting stats @raiders4life. I think we could manage though. Reggie works the cap well and with the move to LV soon, we will be able to offer players more enticing contracts due to the no state tax.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Definitely. Stats are only stats that will eventually be broken. Reggie has impressed with his managing of the cap so far and I don't expect that to change.

If the current trajectory of the cap continues, we can be looking at Carr and Mack having contracts that are a bargain in a couple of seasons. Add to that the CBA being renegotiated soon and there's a lot of ways where it can end up working out for the Raiders.

Conspiracy theory: The rams are waiting to release terms of Donald’s contract in the hopes that it will give the raiders less time to work out a meal with Mack, thus lessening the chances they have to play against him week one.

lol someone asked the guys on serious XM nfl network something similar and they basically laughed saying not a chance

The difference is having a few good years with a good Defense or having a dynasty for 15 years with a franchise QB.

Mack is in his prime right now and he has maybe five more years, Carr is still not in his prime and has 10+ years left.

Yes.

Why is that bad? We paid Carr based off potential and because we couldn't find a franchise QB for 12 years. Even though that was due to the Al Davis regime. Mack is a premier Top 3 Defensive talent in the league, proven.

Welp. The rams are giving Donald 6 years 132 with 87 guaranteed. Going to be hard for us to offer anything less.

The gauantees is obviously insane, but at ~$22 a year, it's less than I thought it would be tbh.

Get this freaking done Reggie and Jon.
