TakeTheBallDeep
The majority of people think that Gruden has been a disaster so far....I don’t get it. Yes he signed an older Jordy Nelson, had New England got him everyone would be hyping it up. Yes he’s also signed other vets but Gruden won with veteran teams in Oakland (1st stint) and Tampa Bay before so I get his thinking about having a solid vet in every position room. The Khalil Mack situation is also a little overblown. I doubt he gets traded but it’s possbile and even if he does they will recover from it. As someone else said unless you lose your QB (assuming he’s good to great) it’s not as big of a deal as some make it. Yes you don’t wanna lose an elite pass rusher, but it’s not an end all for a season Carr might be overrated but we will know for sure in the next 2 years, I will give him 1 year under Gruden to work the kinks out but if he doesn’t show improvement after year 2 with Gruden then I think it’s cause for concern. Their division is wide open (according to most) so I don’t see why anyone should be overly surprised if they win it. Im not a Raiders fan but this whole Gruden has been out of the league for 10 years and he won’t be able to catch up is a little amusing to me, it’s not like he was completely away from the game working in a different industry/sport. He’s a hardass off camera but I think his players will buy into him since he’s proven. Time will tell of course

If he didn't have a top tier OL and receiving group, I think he'd be labeled as a bust. I see them as a 7-9 type of team this season. Even after he tore your team up twice, leading game winning TD drives in both games?

Calm down, both games the raiders BARELY beat the ravens. Both of those seasons where we were the most injured team in the league, barely beating us in that situation is nothing to brag about. I'm not saying he's bad, he is a decent QB, and has potential to be a top 10 QB. Right now though he's a product of that OL and receiving group. I see the raiders being a losing team this season. That defense is terrible, and I don't trust Carr.

I have no problem with people thinking Carr is overrated, hell I do too to some extent but there is no denying hes a good QB. Just how good is the question. And how is Carr a product of the receiving group that has been among the leaders in drops the last 3 years...um ok.

A lot of QBs don't get enough time to prove themselves and they're labeled a bust too early especially by the teams own fans. If his supporting cast wasn't tops in the league, he'd be getting the same treatment . He has the potential to be a good qb, right now he's not good. He pretty much walked into the perfect situation, a top 3 OL, and a top 3 WR duo.

RavensDefense3
Say what you want but Cooper/Crabtree are definitely one of the better WR duos of the past few years. Even raiders fans were hyping them up during the season where they made the playoffs

Carr is just now hitting the age where a QB's prime generally beings. Take a look at him compared to some of the QBs of the past decade: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CarrDe02.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MannPe00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RoetBe00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradTo00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BreeDr00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RyanMa00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StafMa00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DaltAn00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MannEl00.htm Dude has a down year at age 25 after two very good seasons when just about everything went wrong with the Raiders and suddenly he can't play? C'mon, man. Young QBs having down years isn't out of the ordinary.
