Last week showed again how dumb the Bears were at keeping Peterman over PJ Walker. PJ Walker leads the Browns to beat the 49ers while Bagent blew his opportunity to beat the Vikings.
SemperFeist
Jim Harbaugh replace Eberflus is an interesting talking point. On multiple levels it’s a job that makes sense for Harbaugh to make his way back to the NFL, but I can’t see Harbaugh accepting an NFL job where he doesn’t have significant personnel control, if not de facto GM authority. And I’m not sure I see Bears’ ownership doing that.
SemperFeist
The Bears are aware that having good players is a good thing, right?

What is all of that money for if it's not for retaining homegrown talent. I wanted Poles initially, but I'm so happy that they went the other direction. He's one of the best zone CBs playing right now though. I would think that the Eagles, Steelers, or 49ers would be on the phone right now.

wcblack34
I’m very happy we did not hire Poles. I understand the draw of having all those draft picks, but you have to keep good players.
SemperFeist
What are they doing?! Sweat is set to be a free agent. The Commanders were not expected to re-sign him. The Bears just gave up their 2nd round pick for a few months of an exclusive negotiating window. Like I said here: The baffling moves by the Bears just continue to astound me. I suppose they could have it in good word that they'll be able to extend him, but honestly, if you have a choice between cashing in on the free agent market or signing an extension with a team you have no history with and has only had a record better than .500 once in the last 12 years and only 7 times the last 25 years, which would you choose? The Gnat
My guess is that there is already a tentative agreement with Sweat, probably hammering out some final details. As much as Poles had made some weird decisions, I doubt he makes this move without an extension planned.
