A couple weeks ago, they find an issue with the lint trap.Then a week later, I find a huge wad of lint in the lint trap that wasnt from me. Just sticks out because I remember seeing the wad of lint and sending a picture to my buddy because I told them about how they got worked up over it. your house, your rules. The last 9 months. Was disabled and slowly improving (feb 17 my lungs got so bad I had to go to GR once a week (2 hr drive)) August: decided to get a job and see what I could do septemver: found a job, entry level just like Burger King but Jimmy Johns. Made a few dollars over min wage on average tho after tips. Learned I was physically more capable than I expected after beating myself down each day and pushing myself to the limit. November: delivered an order to a glass factory and while I was there decided to apply. Got hired. After the screening and physical and whatnot they told me it'd be a week and a half before they could place me or I could start the next morning in quality control but it'd be an hour earlier in the morning. I figured out a baby sitter and accepted. I was really good at it, everyone was impressed with how well I did, even moreso after I explained my life hardships. I was making $12 an hour. Then the GM windshields were off the line after 5 weeks and quality control only needed one person back there so the lady back there that had worked there 16 years obviously had seniority and stayed. They were weird the next few days and put me in weird spots. I trained one day in a cell putting the paint liner stuff on quarter windows and obviously wasn't expert level since it was the first time I'd done it. Proper trainee level though, and I was still faster and (definitely more efficient) than a couple people in the cell. Then I was assigned for the rest of the week to shatter windows because there was a ton of them. That Friday they called me into the office and HR said they were ending my contract because I wasn't learning a cell fast enough after five weeks. (Wasn't fired you bully). I was upset and didn't fight it because I'd never been in that situation before and wasn't at all expecting to be let go. I guess the fact that I was due my $900 signing bonus a week later wasn't relevant at all or anything. And ive been at my current job for the last few months. I work what most people there call the hardest job and make on average about $20/hr. Talked to my manager today about elevating to bartender soon where I'll make around $1000 a week but yeah I'm a lazy bastard that gets fired so ironical isn't it iPorn 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You of all people should understand that there’s a lot more going on in people’s lives that influence where they are than simply boiling it down to “you work at a Burger King, stop being a loser”. He's saying "poor" as in "the income does not support basic necessities". McDonalds made news a few years ago because they released a "budget" for their employees. It assumed they worked 70 hour weeks (at a 2nd job so no overtime of course) and didn't include what I think a reasonable person would describe as necessities; health insurance, car insurance (but there was a car payment), anything for a child if they had one, and heat. The monthly income for someone working at McDonalds was just over $1000 IIRC. Maybe like $1200. He's saying a system that provides people working full time with somewhere around $1000/month with how expensive living in the US is sucks.
