Busts happen. His refusal to sign replacements for his busts hurt us. The Patriots bust on one second round defensive back every single year and they haven't been hurt. craig Posted September 1, 2018 Share Posted September 1, 2018 At the organizational level, I wonder if it wouldn't be kinda motivating for Gute to pick up a couple of guys from outside? The scouts are working like crazy to try to identify people. But if you rarely/never pick up an outside guy, that might be somewhat de-motivating. (I know they did snag Odom last year, so it's not like Ted NEVER did, but it wasn't often.) If scouts are making recommendations, and gute ends up picking up a couple of guys that were recommended this year, I'd think they might be especially motivated next year to try to identify somebody in other camps?
