I wish I knew. Seems like the SB hangover is a real thing. Players seem to have lost their edge. The offensive line is a shell of its' former self, that's the biggest difference on offense. On defense, the pass rush just isn't causing as much disruption which is exposing what is a fairly weak secondary. The playcalling has felt off all year. the offense is clearly still looking for an identity. A lot of the "little things" that were being done last year are just not being done this year, which certainly adds up. Things like silly mistakes, stupid penalties, making big plays at the right time.

A theory is that Reich and Fillipo (2017 asst coaches no longer with team) were the catalysts behind the very successful, mixed, offense of 2017, and their losses have left a gap that Doug cannot fill.

Wentz has looked better with each game, he is 100% health wise and just as good as his 2017 self (and hopefully will be even better by year's end). Cox has been as disruptive as ever, drawing double teams and making teams pay when they don't. So at least the faces of the offense and defense, respectively, are showing up, but it's all for naught when nearly every other individual player appears to have just taken a step back. Does that fall on the coaching? Did they buy into their hype coming off a SB? Who knows. Clock is certainly ticking. Being the in the NFCE they have the luxury of a playofff window that will stay open for a long time, but getting a bye? That window has all but shut, which is a big deal for a team who really relied on their HFA in 2017.

Pretty much every player besides from Wentz, Cox, and Malcolm Jenkins have regressed so far. I don’t know if it’s a coaching problem, a motivation problem, or just the true talent level of the roster. Whatever it is the staff needs to figure it out. It’s hard to win 13 games a year, and a lot of lucky bounces went right for the Birds last year, but this team looks sloppy and undisciplined which is a far cry from how they looked in 2017.

Luckily the NFC east is a pretty weak division, but as of now this team gets crapped on in the playoffs if they sneak in.

The 2017 Eagles were no differen than the 2009 Saints. Yes, they were leaps and bounds the best team in the league. But a lot of that also was with luck factoring in. Just like any other Super Bowl Champion. The 2008 Steelers and Santonio Holmes 2 TD grabs come to mind.

Eagles fans will cite the injuries but the Eagles had a lot of lucky bounces, etc. They haven't gotten the bounces this season but are still very clearly the best team in the NFC East. And the fact that all 5 of their games have been one-score games will leave them battle tested come the playoffs where they'll be dangerous.

1. Lack of discipline. Penalties have killed us this season.
2. Pass Blocking, I don't know what the hell happened to this O-Line in the pass game, but it's nothing like last year, they're all worse across the board in that department.
3. Defense on the road. It's been good enough at home, but on the road it just doesn't really get the job done.

It's not injuries. The only substantial injury we've really had over the past two weeks, IMO is Tim Jernigan, and that shouldn't make or break things for us. I think the Eagles still have the highest ceiling in their division for this season at the very least, but they need to get their ish together.
