Though I have a feeling that we trade down from #12 to get a late 1st round pick and another 2nd round pick. Gotta see those deals. Still would like a young pass rusher, but now it is not a clear need. #12 now has to include more guys like White/Oliver. And...trade down. Please trade down. Accumulate those picks. Get some offensive linemen. Grab a tight end. Still need a free safety.

Ragnarok
if Preston Smith is only 16 mil guaranteed, I am exceedingly happy with the signing. That is definitely well worth the risk.

My concern is putting a ton of guarantee money to unproven players. Only 16 mil for Preston over a 4 year deal is a great move by Gute because it doesn't screw us long term if it doesn't work out. Joe
Little concerned about the cap, but we've addressed our biggest need along the EDGE and picked up a fairly reliable Safety. We need to attack the DL now and bolster the Safety position.

OLB is obviously a hugely important position (including in Pettine's scheme despite some trying to pretend otherwise) and Perry and Matthews have not been getting done for years now. For the most part, Perry (except for 1 year) and Clay (5 of the past 6 years) have been unreliable (injuries, injuries, and more injuries), mediocre (or worse), and highly overpaid. At least Clay was awesome back in the day. So refreshing to have a GM actually acknowledge positions of weakness and attack them ... in free agency.
