Probably asked him if he could play a LB spot and refused. Zimmer probably stared him down with his one good eye until he walked out of the room.

Man, I wish all Vikings fans had a sense of humor. Krauser escorted me out of your thread, and VDs been giving me schit to me and telling me to get off his lawn for a decade now.

Before the season started I said the Packers had a weak roster.

I think I might be wrong considering how well the defense played against Chicago. Granted, Trubisky is not good at all and they abandoned the run so who knows. Regardless, the defense is clearly improved. I miss Dom Capers.

I'm worried about Pat Elflein against Kenny Clark. At this point he's pretty much worthless. Bradbury has been up and down, but at least he has some positive play in him.

It'll be a tough game as usual, but I think right now GB has to favored at home. Just no more awkward ties!

Our defense has improved big time but our offense is still a work in progress.  You have a good defense but not as good as the Bears'.  I'm glad this one is at home.  And yes, no more stupid ties!

Vikings have some incredible strengths that make them very tough.

They have a complete defense.

On offense they have a Probowl caliber running back, two Probowl caliber WRs, a very good TE and a quarterback who can deliver strikes when he has time..... and a couple good OL.

Their weakspot is up the middle of their OL mixed with the immobile QB. That’s a bad pairing for them. We need to blow up a run or two, get them into a passing down and take down the statue. Minnesota WILL get yards, but if we make them take the long route by not giving up any big plays, we’re built to crush them on third down. And we do have the splash defenders to get them to third down eventually so I like our chances.

Then let's hope Kenny Clark has a big day.

When we talk about how long the vikings have been coming up short, we really have to go all the way back to the year 1066
That's when the original vikings discovered the New World (allegedly).
But in true viking fashion, they blew the deal and let an Italian named Columbus take full credit for it

Fast forward to modern times and once again, the vikings are foiled by an Italian... this one named Lombardi. That's who's name is on The Trophy that has eluded them since their inception in 1961. 21,000 days and counting.

This weekend, the Packers are paying homage to QB extraordinaire Bart Starr, the Captain of teams that won 5 NFL Titles in 7 years and 3 in- a- row.
A truly amazing feat that has not been repeated by any other franchise in the 100 years of NFL History.

The differences between these two franchises couldn't be more stark.

Go Packers

Very true. The Patriot offense has evolved very quick release timing by acquiring very smart players who can be counted on to run precise routes in tight spaces. Brady has perfected those short, accurate passes. They run the ball and then take shots deep. That’s an incredible offense, one of a kind. They also make very very few mistakes so they always seem to be in good down and distance. Just incredibly smart, disciplined offense. My favorite offense I’ve ever watched.

Cousins doesn’t get rid of it as quick. So he’s gonna be a sitting duck if we can get them to 3rd and long.

You too young to remember the Greatest Show on Turf?

Prime Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, Marshall Faulk and probably the best rhythm quarterback in Kurt Warner.  Honorable mention to Pace, Proehl, Az Zahir Hakim.

To me, that was the most fun.  Warner would hit his drop, let it fly to a spot and a WR would come outta nowhere for it.  That and Marshall was simply amazing in and out of the backfield.

I watched the Vikings game Sunday and generally follow the team since I live in the TC.

Just due to game flow there aren’t a ton of great takes to be made from their Atl game (up 14-0 after an blocked punt and int after like 5 min). They will try to be more balanced this year rushing but the 10 passing attempts was more due to circumstances. They will run their fair share of 12 personnel, so it will be interesting to see how we align with that. Their line isn’t bottom 3 anymore but it still isn’t great. They have a J McCray sized hole with Pat Aflein at one G. I’m also  interested to see how their tackles do in a hostile environment on passing downs.

On D I do think we can move it on them. Their D doesn’t travel as well as you’d think. Looking at yards per play (which is what most handicappers use) going back 2 years they have been crazy good at home and mortal on the road (4.5 yards per play at home which is elite vs 5.3 on the the road which is middle of the pack). This also shows up in the scoreboard (averaged about 22 ppg on road vs 17 at home the past 2 years). Atl moved the ball okay vs MN, just had turnovers. Between the lack of noise and AR being Uber conservative, they won’t be +3 in that category.

I don't think they're ready. O'Neill makes me think they have a better chance of holding up as Remmers was a rich man's Allen Barbre on the right side.

As for the offense. I highly doubt their DL will be as active as Chicago's was. Let's look at it logically here: rivalry game, week 1 of the season, prime time opener for the entire league; dudes balled out as hard as they could. I looked at some of ATL's drives from Sunday and it seemed as if they had success with short passes to the left towards the beginning of the game, then to the right towards the end. Jimmy Graham could have a big day if we go this route, especially if we're running 5-7 yard out routes.

what are everyone's thoughts on defensive personnel we play?  does our dime match-up against their offense, or do we get more ILBs out there more often?

Depends really on how they try to run the ball I think. If we go with more nickel and dime we will likely be playing Greene as the 3rd safety and i like that to be honest against a poor oline who likely will struggle with our dline and have trouble getting to the second level. Our DBS should be able to ball out the challenge will be with their TE game i think who covers the TEs and how.
